The first time I did it I thought that when I killed one Phoenix Gaurd that I was done with that one but there is a female Phoenix Guard that you have to kill and I had to go back. Other than that I can't think of anything, ohh the slime's there was some trick to kill them for good so they didn't split. I think it was fire. Anyway hope you figured it out because the chess board fight is one of my favorites the first time was relly tough had to keep reloading. But its really pretty easy with the proper strategy. Good Luck.

I just did this part again with a saved game that was pretty close. I had no problems I am running the 3 disc TOTST. I did them in order from left to right and when I killed the Phoenix Guard (male) I imediatly warped to the chess board. The female one shoots arrows that spawn a bunch more phoenix guards.

What version are you running and are you using any patches. Did you try reloading before that level and doing the whole level over?????

BTW thx for getting me back on a nice group that I had abandoned.LOL

Note that it's the female in the back you should kill, preferably before she fires any arrows. The male ones is just canon fodder. :P

One of the statues just outside this room gives you a hint to this.

That was my memory of it as well but just did it last night and you have to kill the male Phoenix Warrior. The statue warns you to kill the Female before she shoots her bow because she shoots arrows of detonation that also spawn about 4 more Phoenix Warriors that would have to be killed before you would warp. I killed the one male last night before the female saw me and I was warped to the chess board.

Huh? That's strange. I remember that I used a stealthy Montaron whom shot a well-placed ice arrow at the female, and killed her by doing so, in my last playthrough. Then the room was finished.

Note that I did the fire room first, and not last, and was therefore not warped until I cleard out the ice chamber.

I did the fire room last. But I stealthed Coran and backstabed her (guantlets of orge power) She died and then the male attacked me I didn't warp until after I killed him. Then I reloded and killed the male first and that did the trick. But I always remember it being the female that had to go down. Strange indeed!
