Please put a SPOILER tag on threads like this that give away game information--just as the very first thread in this forum, "About Spoilers: Please Read Before Posting" asked.

I'll change this one. You'll be responsible for all others you make, or threads will get deleted.

EDIT: And it's coma, not comma. I know I'm being finicky on this one, but the idea of Lavok residing in a comma isn't too bad, provided it was turned sideways and stuffed with cushions. :)

By the way, did you try healing Lavok? Assuming he isn't dead, you should be able to do that, and he always tells you to stop before he's ready to die. If you keep on hitting him, however, you could end up killing the mage.

I'm not sure if this applies to Lavok, but undead NPCs won't talk to you if you are using Protection from Undead. If an NPC is supposed to talk to you before he dies, the undead protection can cause a big problem.

Srry bout the spoiler bit

Ill note that in the future. As for healing yes. I tried dispels, heals, everything short of a restoration scroll i suppose. I mean he isnt dead. The scroll over his head says near death..after I heal him he goes back a little to badly injured. I get the dialogue that lavok isnt interested in speaking to me. Its my only mage game Ive got going right now so Im gonna try a few more things. Ill check again in case someone reads it and actually had this happen. I cant get any other stronghold so Im kinda miffed. The knights of Solamnia left on me too. They said they would just wander Amn instead and walked out. :)

Its a common bug i BG II, now and again a npc will say hes to busy speaking to you, try loading a prevous save game, or use the newest patch, it should take care of the problem

No, Vic20. Lavok's not saying he's too busy. It's saying he doesn't want to speak to the PC.

I suspect you continued attacking Lavok after the lich in his body had been defeated. If you do this without killing him, he may become angry at you. You might try casting Charm or a similar spell, and see if that helps. If not, you may need to use an editor to reset a variable for how Lavok views your party.

A hint on infinity engine editor

Now I screwed up the planar sphere again with a dual class mage..
I didnt kill Lavok but after putting the heart back and returning it said lavok death the moment I entered his are..he was alive and speaking when I entered.
SO I downloaded the infinity engine editor and there are a bunch of variables under party info does anyone know what variable Id have to change to what value to allow me to finish this damn quest..Im not sure how many mages Im gonna have to go thru at this point to get the sphere as my stronghold.
Id settle for just the variable to assign a stronghold but if I could put lavok back in his waiting to be brought outside state that would be ideal. Thanks so much PLZ help me Ived poured hours down the drain this is getting a tad frustrating.

Give this a couple of days, and I suspect somebody will be able to help you.

Not too sure if this will help, but it's worth a try. First make sure that you have the line Debug Mode=1 under Program Options in the Baldur.ini file - it should be where ever you installed the game to.

Load up your save game, and press CTRL + SPACE. Type in CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("LavokOutside","GLOBAL",0) and press ENTER. Type in CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("PowerObsidianSphere","GLOBAL",1) and press ENTER. Now try talking to him again.

If that doesn't work, then these two should set it so that you have the Sphere as your stronghold:
- SetGlobal("PlayerHasStronghold","GLOBAL",1)
- SetGlobal("PCSphere","GLOBAL",1)

I hope that helped.

Er, no it isn't. There is a known bug, as you point out, concerning clicking on an NPC and being told "he's too busy" to speak with you. That's a standard bugfix. LuCypher's getting a message that Lavok isn't interested in speaking with him, which is caused by a different problem: the mage is angry, probably having been hit after the possession was removed. Different problem, and it does have a different solution. Sorry.

And watch the language. You know, Buck Satan's forum rules you agreed to when you signed up to post? #3 - "Profanity and/or sexually explicit posts are unacceptable. Purposely posting profanity in a way as to avoid our filter will not be tolerated. In extreme cases, we may even file complaints with your ISP or hosting company." I don't care what you say away from the board and my own vocabulary could curl paint off a house, but up here, you don't try to get around the filter, or you'll lose your posting privileges.
