Been stuck on the 3rd chamber for five playing hours now! Eventually I looked at the walkthrough, which I usually try to avoid. Apparently one of the six blue circles gives be Protection From Lightning if I can get on it quick enough. But which one? They all look the same to me, altho' the walkthrough says that one should be a lighter colour. I've sat back and watched tham as the monks disappear and reappear and I can't see any difference between them at all! Exactly when is it supposed to change colour?
I use clerics for nearly every chamber. In the chamber of sorcery, I simply summon up a bunch of monsters and let them fight the monks. And, yes, some will get zapped with lightning bolts. Just be certain that you place the monsters, when the monks disappear for a moment, so that you will not get hit by the same lightning bolts. And be ready to summon up more monsters as the previous ones get hurt.
It's supposed to change color just before the monks disappear, but I can never see it either. I try hard to see it, but there must be something wrong with it.
Like Crucis, I use a cleric for the chambers. My cleric has a high wisdom, which lets him cast the high level elemental protection spell (I forget the exact name of it). And, he can cast the full Heal spell (not the lesser spells). I consider these spells critical for getting through the chambers.
Any chance you might have a strong cleric available for this?

Sorceror
A sorceror with improved invisibilty worked quite well for me. In fact, SHE didn't even get attacked.
A barbarian with high constitution did the job very well too.
I believe the monks are immune/resistant to many sorts of attacks, so pay attention to the feedback in the dialogue screen.

I used a cleric too for most
I used my tank for the first two rooms but he was getting banged up pretty heavily (Sverfneblin gnome). Even with a high strength and his innate mirror image but still was looking bad by the end of the 2nd room. Wasn't sure he would make it through anything harder so I switched to my human cleric (he was around 13 or 14th level "I think") and he finished the rest of it with incredible ease.
As soon as he popped in he cast Iron Skins. Then ran around for the remainder of that round. Next round I then cast summon undead (IMHO I think they are better than summoned monsters for the chambers). On the third round a cast a second one. With his level I usually got 2 Zombie Lords or 1 and an occasional Drowned Dead. Either works fine. The reason I think they are better than monsters is that both of these undead have extremely high resistence to bludgeoning damage. Since the monks in the chambers can only use bludgeoning damage the undead were virtually invulnerable. I usually memorized three summon undead spells. I would cast two and save one just in case (but never needed it). A pair of undead worked out just great. I have to say after watching my tank get hammered I really enjoyed seeing the monks futilely whacking away at the undead and the little message "Monk: Zombie Lord is immune to my damage" continuously popping up in the window. The undead didn't do a lot of damage with each hit but they could just stand there and wear the monks down until they died. My cleric just stood back and watched in most of the rooms and/or ran around doing whatever was needed to complete it. And last but not least, summoned creatures count as part of your party so you get the XP for anything they kill. Icing on the cake!!!
