Mod Reviews

Post by Greg. »

Yes, I know that there is a recommended mod thread already...

However, I thought it might be a good idea to have one that goes in more depth. I know there are comments on mod sites, but certainly new members are more likely to trust older, perhaps wiser member...

Rules

1 - no spam
2 - no (major) spoilers

The mod I have chosen is

Korobal Island - available from planetelderscrolls

Premise - Due to unrest in Cyrodil City, the legion want to build a fort on an ex-Indoril island. You help them. Also, intrigue with the rivals to the EEC....

The good - good quests - large variety of quests. A nice plot with several twists. No real uber-items. New Faction - the Elvish Trade Cartel. New well-constructed landmass. New port - Arx Dolor. Build/upgrade 2 new settlements. Runs well...

The bad - some quest glitches (however console codes given). Arx dolor is a bit... patchy to say the least, graphics-wise... There are clashes with mods, but I don't have any of them. Sometimes journal entries are a bit lacking in information...

Final say - 9/10...

Add some more on...

Good Idea

Real good idea for a thread. One that I think should be a big plus here at Gamebanshee.

The Fists of Fire mod.

The Good: a good way to raise hand to hand level. There are spells to make h2h more effective. A trainer for sparring.

The Bad: game tends to crash quite a bit.

Thr Ugly: you get 3 sparring rounds with the trainer. A round is over when someone is knocked down. Match is over when you leave. You are charged with murder if you kill him. I was sparring with this trainer; knocked him down during the second round and he never got back up. I got tired of waiting and left(he was still alive.) I came back later for more sparring; he was there standing, I talked to him about sparring and was immediately told that my crime would be reported and was descended upon by everyone in the including the guards.

They should make this a sticky.

Guar Tamer.
Allows you to tame wild guars. Get their health down far enough then use command creature.
Voila. Your very own pack guar.
10/10
(This mod is new to me and I will update the review when I get to know it more)

There is a sticky... I had intended for this to be more in depth than in the other thread... Like mentioning potential bugs, level reccomendations, clashes with other mods etc...

I agree with Greg. If you (meaning anybody) are going to post in this thread, please keep your response sufficiently detailed, rather than simply a thumbs-up.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

White Wolf of Lokken.

Premise: You're invited to the (rather Solstheimy) island of Lokken. In no time you're up to your ears in palace intrigue.

The good: Truly beautiful settings. The main quest and side quests are well thought out. There is not one part that feels rushed and new and innovative ideas have been realised.
After the main quest is finished you'll still have reason to visit every once in a while. ;)
Had this been an official add-on then the creator (Emma) would've made money.

The bad: This takes some thought. Maybe it was a bit too obvious who the good guys and bad guys are. But that sort of fits the broad, non-subtle Nord style.
She says: Lou, it's the Beginning of a Great Adventure
