Morrowind Money Making Schemes

Post by Mr Sleep »

So what is your best law abiding money making scheme?

Personally i garner quite a lot from selling self created potions, any other useful options?

I tend to purchase items cheap (usually at 60% of the normal cost) then sell it back to the person for, usually, 160% percent of it's original price. I clean out a few clerks that way, and it helps my mercantile skill (which is already high 90's)

Go to creeper in caldera with a couple dozen common soulgems in your inventory. Summon ancestor ghost, soul trap it, sell it to creeper for 4k. Rest 24 hrs, repeat until you run out of soul gems.

Or, taunt an ordinator into attacking you. Kill him in self defense (legal, no bounty), take his armor and wear it. Talk to another ordinator and they'll auto attack, so you again kill them in self-defense. Harvesting ordinators provides virtually unlimited cash, at the price of having them get permanently flagged hostile to you.

Both of the above are definitely "working the system", but are perfectly legal and require no mods.

In my most recent game, Kanji, I actually said the hell with it, went into the construction kit and removed the ordinatoruniform script from indoril armor so I could wear it safely. There are just too many ways to legitmately get a set that it seemed absurd to penalize the player for it. There are several dead ordinators in-game, at least one of which you'll stumble over during the main quest. There's also a quest for the ordinators themselves that rewards you with indoril armor, so it seemed kind of hypocritical to have them attack you for wearing their reward for completing their quest.

Also, if you're a medium armor type, the best in game is indoril by a significant margin. It seemed insane to penalize medium armor characters by taking away the only medium armor type that even comes close to being as good as the best light armor type.

I think I really need to do a mod changing armor values across the board to balance the types better. Bethesda left them very unequal.

CJ got a question for you. I went into the construction kit but I couldnt see how to remove the ordinatoruniform script from the Indorial helm and breastplate. You are quite correct that indorial is the best medium armor you can come by and you can get a full set at low lvl if you know where to look. Could you please tell me how to edit out the ordinatoruniform script? I have a funny story about indorial armor in my first game I went to ghostgate and had some cash and items and bought an indorial helm from the merchant in the bottom of the tower, talk about your reload moments.

In the editor, look for the pieces of indoril armor. In their listings look for the ones that have 'ordinatoruniform' in the script column... only a few pieces actually do. Double click on the name of one of these items to call it up in a box. In the script box, cycle through to the very beginning, which is a blank line. Select the blank line, which effectively clears any scripts from the item. Then save and you're done.

when i saw indoril on the floor last time it was heavy - the same as dreugh. The last changes for me from time to time, though.

BTW, it appears, IIRC, Dreugh cuirass is for sale at least in 2 places and the helm even more. I haven't came by any other part still, however. i do not care because Orcish is stronger (and more expensive if one's going to buy or sell it), though.

Indoril and dreugh are both bugged because of an error in the scripting. Both are at the borderline weight that's the end of medium and the beginning of the heavy classes, so the program flip flops them sometimes. Both are -meant- to be medium. There's an easy fix....open each piece of armor in the editor and lower (or raise, if you want them to be heavy) their weights by a little bit.... .5 lbs does the job, either way. Then they'll always show up as the type you want.

Dreugh is actually better then orcish, but not quite as good as indoril. Only dreugh helm, cuirass and shield exist, though.

It doesn't :D

It's just spam...

Dracandos voice removes the indoril armour thing if you have a high enough rank in the temple or have finished the main quest...

Well, in mournhold I put on my ordinator suit of armor, and went into the armory store in the great bazaar. Then I talk to the ordinator so he'll want to kill me. I'm a high level character so these guys are no problem. So kill im and then I sell as much armor to the store owner as I can. I just sell it until it's around 10,000 G. then I go upstairs sleep for 24 hours, go downstairs and kill another ordinator, sell his armor, and I repeat this prcess until I have as much money as I want.

I always make money by selling potions amd loot to people in the mages guild too. But i think its stupid to only have 3 peices of dreugh armor. They should make all the pieces. O and i also make money with lots of soulgems and stuff. Does anyone know where to find merchants who have over 10 000 gold?

Well I make money selling self made potions, hunting, enchanting and questing. But (possible spoiler but not cheat if you want really big money you can make an fortify intelligence potion and/or fortify luck, drink it and do more fortify luck and fortify intelligence, drink it, you can do it all the times you want, every time you drank these potions you create a potion with high increase of intelligence/luck and with a higher duration. when you get very, very high intelligence and luck you can create very, very powerful potions (the last time I've done this I created potions wich increased 52760 whateaver attributed you chosed to made, for some days... so, know you are able to make a fortify personality potion... When I fortified my personality like this I went to sell an objection marked with 1 gold value and the seller give me all the money they have... And I could buy objects very, very valuable for 0 gold, yes for nothing... You can use potions like that to levitate to, they are better (much better) than the boots of blinding speed, or whatheaver you want to do... Well, I never missed money, I was richer than Bill Gates...

SPOILERS: Kill Dremora's and Assassins for expensive items

I play with Tribunal to get the assassin attacks. I start a new game and stay in Seyda Neen to hone my hand-to-hand skills until I can hit at least 50% of the time. This will let you defeat the early assassins that appear when you sleep. Then I leave Seyda Neen I head for the mages guild in Balmora and join. I do the beginner quests and when I get the one for the "fake soul gem" I steal everything on the table when I plant the fake. Then I transport to Caldera and go to Creepers. Sell him everything you can until he has a nice array of items that can be used for making change during a high cost item sale. Sleep in the Shank's Shovel Inn until assassins attack and kill them with HTH attacks. Sell the excess equipment to Creeper. Spend it all on training and bribes. Caldera has some of the best and friendliest trainers in the game. Repeat. Before long you will be prettly well trained in healing, acrobatics, sneak, most weapons, etc. and Creeper will have lots of equipment to trade when you bring him the high cost stuff. If you do this long enough the assassins will get better and start carrying carved darts and daedric wakisashi's (48,000 gold each). Now head out the back door of Creepers past the armorer and head north along the edge of the mountains until you see a crypt/tomb - its very close. This tomb always has daedric monsters in it - often dremoras with expensive daedric weapons. Kill them with HTH (or whatever works for you by now) for their weapons and sell them to Creeper using the stuff you previously sold him to make change past his 5,000 gold limit. Eliminate all the bodies in the tomb so they will regenerate, sleep and repeat. This is also a good place to grab a nice soul gem each visit. Hope this helps.

I'm still in the early stages of the game, but to start with I just made loads and loads of fatigue potions then sold them for loads of profit. Then I eventually stumbled into Caldera and discoved the creature in the Orc house that buys certain things full price so now I make good use of the mark/recall spells and the spell that takes you to the temple or the one to the cult. Basically I just dump everything in a corner when exploring ruins etc. then go and pick it all up later. then as I can't move I used the divine intervention spell then dump the heavy stuff again, then go to Caldera and place a marker down right next to the buyer and use divine intervention again to get back to my stuff. Then I just simply pick everything up and use recall. I made 15k from one tomb alone by this method. It takes a while and you have to wait 24 hours sometimes if he runs out of cash but its worth it :) He buys potions full price too I've noticed so I make a lot of profit still from that while increasing my alchemy skill in the process :)

Make a fortify intel. potion.....drink it....make another....drink it....make a bunch and drink them and so on.Once your intel. is out of this world make a fortify personality potion(it will be outlandish)...drink it.Now go to a merchant(not creeper or mudcrab)who has a ton of gold and you should be able to sell the fool a piece of saltrice for 10,000 gold. Not to mention that you will now be able to make EXTREMLY valuable potions.

money

Raid EVERY dwemer cave that you find. If you have a high encumbrance you can make a lot of money. Also, pearls, gems, and even hackle o leaves can get you money when you have a decent amount of them.
