Hummm......funny thing
Since I don't want to spoil any of the new player's games, I AM WARNING YOU THAT IT MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS
***********************************************************
It is the third time I play this game and even my sister finished playing 1 game without any trouble. The funny thing about it is that now that I recently started playing, after blowing up the warehouse, I was having trouble heading downtown, when I got there I could not go inside Ventrue Tower, Conffession, The Last Round, or any other place that started a quest.
I had no choice but to download the fist patch and the game sort of works but it crashes more often in places where I could enter easily before. I think it says something like "failed to lock vortex" or something. Any one knows why it happens???? I'm starting to want to leave the game for good.
Well, if any one can shed light on me for this problem I will highly appreciate it.
Thank You

I can't help, but I can sympathise. I recently went back to the game for a bit of harmless fun and got hooked once again... So I made a new character and started from the start. No sooner had I reached the beach then the game would lock up and refuse to load the area. Worse yet, it wasn't the game files that were going haywire, but the saved file itself, as re-installing and keeping my saved games lead to the same crash.
My only suggestion is re-install, re-patch with the offical patch and try again. It worked for me. Hopefuly someone here can be MORE helpful then just "Do it all again".

Regrettably, in the absence of more detailed information, that is probably the fastest way to get it fixed. Sometimes when a program goes wonky, you have two options. Spend 2 days figuring out how to fix it, or spend 2 hours re-installing it. I recommend the 2 hours. They should at least attempt to save their save games, though, just in case. Worst case for that is they have to delete them all and start over, but that's minor pain.

Thanks pennypincher
Thank you for taking the time to offer some advice.
The thing is that I reinstalled the game 3 times already and have completed the santamonica quests 3 times! I think I'll cool off for a while because I can't take it a fourth time. Once again thanks for the advice I trully apreciate it.
**********************************************************
On the same note, I would also like to thank you yrthwyndandfyre because its not the first time you try helping me out.
Thanks to the both of you.
p.s.
I think I'll go jump off a bridge now. (jk) I'll try it again after I can tolerate the santamonica quests yet again.

Everything is almost Ok
The sound and image of the game are more than excellent. Before my little problem, the game would have trouble loading in certain parts of downtown like the skyline and sometimes club conffession, but now it doesen't let me enter places were I can update the quests, but I already have the quests. It just won't let me into the places where you can finish the quests or update them.
I'm starting to resign by now though...... but if I get stubborn again I'll try different options or strategies.
Thanks for your concern CaptRory

I don't think CaptRory was commenting on the quality of the sound and images. There is a known issue with the game where areas fail to load if you have gone into the program folder and listened to the mp3 files using Windows Media Player. This can be solved by reinstalling though, so if you have tried that it is unlikely to be the cause.

Oooops.....!
I have to admit that I accidentally moved the sound files to windows media player, but that was way after having trouble with the game itself. You see as a ventrue, I suspected the program was wrong when the nosferatu sewer map was available to my character. So, I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. It worked a lot better but again I was stuck so I did it again. Eventually, I was able to get the quest but for ex. I went to club conffession to get rid of Patty and to activate Venus' first quest. I went out of conffession and onto the hub where I used persuassion......but after that it won't let me go back to the club, skyline, or the sewer where you encounter one of the plague barers. And with out those......I can't advance the game.
I guess the game is bugged......and it really bugs me!!! (lol) but I know what I must do again but I really don't want to start the game all over again! You can only stand the santamonica quests and tutorials for so long.
Thank you too mr_sir for trying to shed light on me (I just hope I can see it. lol)

If you've tried re-installing and keeping your saved files, try deleting all files from the game from your computer (maybe keep the saved files on CD or something) and re-installing... Just use the console cheat to run a vampire up to full power and get to the place you were before fast, see if it fixes it... If it DOES, try adding the saved files back again and loading those games. If it buggers up again, you know what you have to do. If it doesn't... CONGRATULATIONS! *Streamers! Ballons!*
If that doesn't work, keep trying different combinations of things. Install it without the 1.2 patch. Try it with the 1.2 patch but no saved games, try it with saved games... I know it seems time consuming and annoying to install, do all that work and uninstall it totaly from your computer again when it doesn't work... But hey, it'll help you narrow down where your issue is and you might just stumble across a combination that makes it run perfectly.
Or you might end up very bored and alone. No comment on which is more likley if this is how you're going to spend your day.

Cool......
I'll see if it works. You wouldn't happen to know the cheat codes to have my vamp up and running would you???? Thanks for the advise pennypincher. I hope no one goes through the same game malfunctions that I'm going through. This game can be pretty addicting but I still have a life after bloodlines...... only I wish I could have some of their power. (hahaaaha) Could make life a lot more interesting

I surely would. The Gamebanshee main page for Vampire The Masquerade, Bloodlines has all the cheats and such you would need, but incase your really lazy, here they are:
Create a shortcut to the Vampire.exe and edit it slightly add "-console" after it, so it's activation line should read C:\Vampire\vampire.exe -console .... Or, you know, where ever you installed vampire too.
Now, use that shortcut to run the game. You'll know you've done it right because when you start the game, the console should load in the upper left hand corner of the screen, and you'll have to close it before the menu will pop up.
Now, once you are in the game itself and playing, you can hit the "`" key (The tilde key, located on the left of the 1 on your kyeboard, just under escape) to bring down the debug console... Feel free to type random things in it while your friends walk through the room to make it look like you're programing your own Mod. Don't forget to look at them as you keep typing to make it seem like you don't even need to look at the screen or keys.
Once this console is open, you can enter various commands to edit the game slightly. In this case, you'll want to enter Giftxp 900 ... You guessed it, 900 free experince points. Pump all your stats and discplines to max, and then if you feel the experiment is STILL taking too long you can enter the following things as well. SPOILERS, OH GOD, SO SPOILEY!!
Give item_w_o (This should bring up the option to give you the "occult blade"... The magical katana from latter on in the game)
Give item_w_d (This should let you select the desertE... Sadly I don't know how to get ammo for it through the console, so my suggestion is to sell it to the first person you can, then buy it back from them, thus activating their ability to sell you ammo for it.)
Give item_a_b (This should let you chose the Body Armour... Don't forget to equip it)
Now that your vampire is basicly unstoppable, but can still take damage from bosses and such, you can run through the game quickly and easily and get back to your error point and see if it contiues to crash. If it does, you're on your own. *Helpless shrug*. Oh, and BTW: If you close the console and the game doesn't seem to be running, open the console again and type charedit to bring up the Characeter Editor, this will open your character sheet. Close the character sheet and the game will be pumping away again.
PS: If this isn't enough to make getting to the location you want an utter cake walk, your a girly man... But there is an option for girly men like you. The console also allows a GOD MODE!!... I'll let you figure out what you have to type in there to get God active.

Over the summer (after finals) I plan to start the game all over using the codes you provided. (yayyy...) lets see if this time I can finaly go through santamonica and beyond. Of course not......
Of course there are no girls in the internet and in this case, there are no girls here......just gamers right?
Well anyways, I tried the codes and lo and behold they WORKED! The game was still bugged but I decided to start all over again. This game should prove more interesting than the previous.
THANKS A LOT PENNYPINCHER!

Have you double checked that you have configured everything correctly in order to activate the console? Its been a while since I used the 1.2 patch but I'm sure I got the console to work with it. This is from another thread, but follow this to set up the console: (also, leave a space between the stuff already in the target path box and -console, for example: vampire.exe -console rather than vampire.exe-console)
1. Create a shortcut to vampire.exe (Or just right click on the shortcut on your
desktop/start menu)
2. In the menu select "Properties" (should be the entry at the buttom)
3. Now a new Menu will appear. Look for something called "Target". There you
should see a patch to the vampire.exe file.
4.Write " -console " behind this path, but without the ""
5.Now start Vampire using this shortcut
If this doesn't work then I haven't got a clue what is wrong.

Just to elaborate on Mr. Sir's post, here is what the command line for my Vampire short cut looks like. Model yours on it (it might be another directory).
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe" -console
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe" -console
