Just wondering what nice targets you guys have found. I have not kept track of who and when and where I rob, but I will start to and post if i find anything extra interesting or valuable.
Some past thefts:
A guy in Bruma a little bit down the hill from the fence has an enchanted hood(black hand hood) and enchanted robe(black hand robe) in a keg in his house which has a very hard difficulty.
HOOD:
Fortify Sneak (4), Fortify Illusion (4), Fortify Marksman (4), Fortify Blade (4), Fortify Speechcraft (4)
ROBE:
Fortify Sneak (11), Fortify Illusion (11), Fortify Marksman (11), Fortify Blade (11), Fortify Speechcraft (11)
Also, try the book store and weapon store(knight rider?) in cheydinhal, i made 1000$ between the two.

Per the sticky thread called HEY, YOU, cleverly created at the top of the forum so you'd never see it--you're supposed to put SPOILER in threads like this. I'll do it this time, but you need to do it in the future, or risk losing your posting privileges.

Makes sense. I know that "nice theft targets" can simply mean "ways to find out whom is a good target," or "shops to case when you're in Imperial City," which are fairly generic. But it can also mean, as you have, "XYZ at this location had the following goods that I stole from his house," with a complete list--and that's pretty specific.
I've yet to rebuild my spellthief PC since restarting the game (I'm running up a mage with decent melee skills at the moment), but when I do, I'll post, here.

I'm not won't to loose much time by breaking in every house, but I've taken two houses in Bruma (even don't remember wich ones) as target and fenced over 1600 gold. That was enough for me that time because I won't to do more action.
Also from looting you gain more (and also the exp).

Ive found weapon shops to be my best haul, I dont pug up with clothing so bah, however Anvil has had some nice Jewelry hauls. I think the best thing to do would be to hit up the market district in the middle of the night or early morning.
One thing I used to watch for was when the gaurds changed, every six hours or so, one shift of gaurds would go to their posts to relieve the last shift. This is classically the best time to break into anything, or atleast that is what the movies and books tell me. Not so in Oblivion. as I have found the only thing this does is put twice the amount of gaurdsin more locations to see you. This is especially trouble in a smaller city/confined space such as Bruma or the Imp. Market District.

If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

I suggest hitting up the Main Hall @ Castle Bruma.... wait til about 3:00AM... walk toward the throne, and in the case to the left there will be 3 Akivara Katana's (decent swords for a level 4-6er.... nothing special)... behind the throne is a diary, worth roughly 300 gold.
I also suggest (one you have access to fences, that is) hitting up Red Diamond Jewelry in Imperial City (Market Dist.)..... if your security is high enough, you should be able to crack open the various cases in the front of the store... all stocked with some pricey gems and necklaces... on the counter case there is a ton of rings as well.
I netted about 3000 from said store....
I am a very solid thief... it's all i do.... i have a TON ( i mean a TON) of good houses and stores to loot written in a notebook at my house, so keep an eye on this thread in the coming days if you are an aspiring thief... i'll be sure to post all my finds!

Cool, thanks I will try it when I get home from school. I have also already robbed Red Diamond Jewlry, but two of the cases require a key. Is that the key which the man sleeping upstairs has? If I remember correctly it is called "Bit and Bridle Key".
I am also just a thief, I have not done many quests, I just rob houses and stores.

Just to add on to your post Soulo, I checked out Castle Bruma and found in one of the side rooms, in a knocked over basket, is 800 gold, its a very easy, or easy lock. I also just snuck around the main parts where no guards would see me, and there were a few other items mostly some expensive books and the sort.
