Glitch with Cheydinhal Recommendation (spoilers)

Post by iron man »

I am currently trying, or at least was, to receive all my Mages' Guild reccomendations. When I tried to get the one for Cheydinhal I realized that I couldn't take the Ring of Burden because I could not cast the Boyancy (sp?) Spell due to my extremely low Alteration level and I was already carrying too much stuff. I decided to come back to it, not thinking that I could just drop my stuff in a chest somewhere. When I did a long while later, the body wasn't even in the well anymore and the ring was nowhere to be seen. I talked to some people in the Cheydinhal guild and they had nothing new to say. Has this happened to anyone else?

Weird...that gives you three options:
1.Load a different save
2.Console it in
3.Use a light spell and go trough the well again..

When you say load a different save, do you mean start over?

If you are on the PC search through the forum for the ring of burden, there are codes there to get you moving. If not let me know, I'll look it up.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

Try go back to the guild, talk to a few people. Without giving too much of the quest away you may be able to get away with not getting the ring.

What?! You dropped that very small thing?

Complete Jewel of The Rumare quest to get a ring that provide Water Breathing (or enchant an item with it yourself). Equip the ring (Jewel of The Rumare) and search the Ring of Burden
There is nothing you can't do, at least if you have enough patience to keep trying.

If the ring really has disappeared I'm afraid your up the proverbial creek, without a paddle.

Search again to make sure it really isn't there, if it becomes obvious that it has gone for good, then you either have to go on without ever becoming a Mage Guild member, or start again either from an earlier save if you have one, or from scratch. Sorry to bear bad tidings, but that's the downside of playing on an XBox.

Spoilers ahoy.

Does it even matter if you don't have the ring? Once you speak to (Argonian lady mage I forget the name of) about the ring she says "oh that silly thing? Just throw it away" but before that she tells you Falcar has run away and asks you to look in his room for his recommendation.
It might not matter that you didn't find the ring. I might be wrong, just a thought

Hello, Grim Harvest!

Well, the idea is that while you are doing the well diving, you... okay, well, your character doesn't know what is going on above him or her in the guild hall. So finding the ring is a requirement, even if you sell it later, rather than waste it. (I've kept it for my characters's collections, or placed it on the inpromptu memorial shrines to the drowned guy, that my characters now make.) So the Journal and/or Quest Stages are set up for that. Sure you can abandon one quest and go wonder off indefinitely, but sometimes the writers kept the intended storyline within continuity anyway. So if you resume, despite having been away, you still have to find the ring. Using TCL to check under the floor can help. ;)
Shhh! Be very quiet! I may be sleep writing and sleep reading!
