help for a multiclass character ?

Post by dawnblazt »

well, i'm playing as a half-elf fighter, level 10, and recently i find out that casting spell is nice! So i want to be able to cast a spell, what class should i upgrade to? Is is okay to have a multiclass character? This game classing system is a little confusing for me, compared to the nice Dungeon Lords ( i started as a mage then ended up as a Lord ) and there's no problem.
One more, who should i hire as a henchman, i'm currently hire Sharwyn ( bard ), and i thinks she's no more benefit me ( i'm on level 2 ), she also die often. :p

If you want to cast spells while wearing armour then I'd suggest taking a divine caster, such as a cleric. If you want arcane spells then try sorceror or wizard. As long as you keep your two classes within 1 level of each other then you will have no penalties for multiclassing. Otherwise you will have a 20% XP penalty. Each race has favoured classes too. If either of the two classes are your race's favoured class then there is no XP penalty. Once you multiclass you can choose which class to advance each time you level up.

As for henchman, speak to them when you level up and you can ask them to level up - but they will always be 1 level below you.

Tomi is a nice thief character to have around, Daelan and Grimgnaw are nice melee fighter types, Sharwyn is useless in my opinion, Linu is a nice cleric to have around. The gnome is useless too (in my opinion).

The multiclassing of 3ed D&D can be a bit tricky if unfamiliar, but if you read up on the manual a couple of times, and then ask the questions which you are unsure off, I think we should be able to help you through the process :)
