Yes, I did read your post...
I'm not saying that you must or should follow my advice, you fight as you want I'm just proposing a alternative solution.
I'm someone who likes a good and beatiful fight, so I use light weapons because they allow me to reach that goal. I not only train my game character but I'm also trying to make myself more of a hybrid so that I don't freeze with just one fighting technique.
You like to move through games quickly, I like to get the max out of them, everybody is different and I just noticed what you could if you ever wanted to try something als for a change...

Its a pity though, that other more heavier weapons like the greatswords, hammers and other types of weapons lack the ability to stab an enemy especially when he/she is lying on the ground unconscious. Only longswords and cleavers can do that, which, in my opinion, will make them more preferable to the heavier weapons. If all weapons are created with that in mind, I'd would have chosen a greatsword. Pity they lack this.

The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Um... Des...
The Solus Greatsword, the most powerful weapon in the game can stab enemies... So can Greatswords or anything that is sharp and pointy.
I agree that it is a pity Greathammers and Greataxes don't have a 'finish him' attack, it seems obious that you should be able to smash the enemies skull or cut off his head while he is lying there uncontious, but alas, that option is not included.

Really? I thought that's restricted to the longswords and cleavers only. Could be possible that the greatsword I was wielding at that time was blunt at the top and my character resorted to kicking the crap out of the unconscious enemy rather than stabbing him:laugh: .
I think its really interesting that so many of the good swords like Sword of Aeons and Avo's Tear and Harbinger all look bigger than greatswords.
Yeah, they do look pretty long. In fact, almost as long as the greatswords themselves oddly enough.
Des, do you have just Fable or TLC? I've got TLC and any sharp pointed weapon can finish an uncontious enemy...
Mine's also Fable: TLC. Frankly, I don't know if that greatsword I wield has a sharp tip or a blunt one but as I recall, my character resorted to kicking that guy till he died especially when carrying a greatsword or any two-handed weapon for that matter. I could be wrong and might replay the game to check it out for myself.

I like Long Swords and Greatswords. The Bereaver is a sexy beast, and I love the Avenger too. I know, the Avenger sucks, but it's very fast and looks better than Avo's Tear IMO. I should have got the Sword of Aeons, bus alas, I was a goody-two-shoes

I Always Use Swords......I Just don't like the hammers/picks/axes, my normally weapon pattern fromt he game beginning
Iron katana(A in the Meelee grading)->steel katana->obsidian katana->harbringer
I used to prefer greatswords (Higher damage is all I wanted) But I found that in some quests (Find the bandit seerees noteably) i had to use berserk to even get a hit, as the bandit interupted me before I could swing it, But that might have been because i had a slow charactar.......
I NEVER use non-sword weapons, With non-swords I normally sell them off as soon as I get them
