For Everyone who said it couldn't be done

Post by snoopyofour »

I just found a thread which describes one solo fighter's journey through a BG2 ToB game modded with every challenge mod that existed in 2005. No self-respecting BG2 player can afford to miss this one.

*the mods:
- Improved Asylum
- Improved battles
- Tactics
- Ascension
- Longer Road
- Turnip golem
(all comp. installed from each mod)

*the man (really, he is the man): thetruth

*the link: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb ... /4058.html

And for those of you who always complained about me never giving sufficient evidence of my exploits (sue me, I don't have a clue how to take a screenshot on my pc :p ) this guy has screens for all of the most challenging fights, i.e. Ascension. Check this one out and if you can't get enough of this guy here's the link to his Priest of Lothander solo: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb ... /5035.html.

Enjoy! :D

First of all a must for a solo fighter and not only is the Belt of Inertial barrier that you get from Trademeet (half damage from everything magic),i always fight ivisible(have 10 rings of air control, and it helps a lot in melee combats also), rod of resurrection - i haven't used it in this game so far but in extreme fights helps a lot (don't know if it's cheesy). At last potions of mind focusing brings your DEX at 25 which helps a lot.Of course later in the game you get some very interesting equipment.
He uses shadowkeeper (10 rings of air control?) and he levels up before leaving Irenicus Chateau by killing the duergar that spawn when you sleep. Yawn. Boring.

You would object, you just hate being wrong. Besides Rings of Air Control aren't that hard to come by (I even think I remember one of the random encounters having one). And do you know whats really boring? Yes do you little Anny (hope you don't mind your pet name)? Do you? (You so must know what I'm about to say)...Magey cheesiness. Unless you're easily entertained by fancy flashes. If that's the case then lucky for you its almost July 4th, but!!!??? OH YEAH YOU DON'T GET THAT ONE. Oh god, that was so wrong :p . Anyway, so what if he leveled up on duergar, do you actually have a coherent point or is this just more of the, now famous, Luis whining?

PS: Weren't you the one arguing that installing mods with additional merchants was a totally legit thing to do? You are in no position to be complaining about the number of stupid rings this guy has.

Course not, snoo-pay. I'm just here to remind you of the cheesines of playing with a level 40 character against a character intended to be played agaisnt a normal level 20 solo character :p You, mi amigo, must remember you've fought against the duergar party with a level 20 fighter and a party around you, huh? YAY! that must have been fun back then. (I hope Fable allows this thred to continue you know) :p

And of course I would object, for I have every right for it, snoo-pay :p Or are you ashamed to say you have the right too? :o :p Btw, if you havent noticed, I play fighters too, I just told you that mages are stronger and far more versatile (your so called cheesiness) than fighters. Anyway, suit yourself, use them. But you cant beat all enemies at irenicus chateau with a fighter without resorting to leveling up as nuts before via killing the duergar summoned at sleep or shadowkeeper, or CLUA console.

Btw, look at that guy stats! 19 19 19 (something something) 19. Oh damn, stats like that make me dream about the game... Gods bend the shape of the realms, dont they? :p

Dammit Anny, you just don't listen do you? I told you twice now that I've already beaten Illyich with a fresh party a few times. He is a toooooool (sung in Ron White accent). Anyway, that isn't the issue. And refresh my memory Anny, when was the last time you explained how you got out of that dungeon with a solo mage? Oh that's right...never:speech:.

"But you cant beat all enemies at irenicus chateau with a fighter without resorting to leveling up as nuts before via killing the duergar summoned at sleep or shadowkeeper, or CLUA console."

Anny...(there isn't any emoticon to portray hopeless exasperation) everytime you say the word "can't" someone proves you wrong. Why do you keep doing it? You said the same thing about me and improved liches and hey! if you tell me how to save a screen shot and then post it I'll give you the "empirical proof" you want, though probably not for a while, I'm currently a little too busy to start an entirely new game just for the purpose of proving you wrong.

"Btw, look at that guy stats! 19 19 19 (something something) 19. Oh damn, stats like that make me dream about the game... Gods bend the shape of the realms, dont they?"

What? Its his character from BG1, are you going to blame him for being sentimental. He got those scores (minus bonuses) on his first try (he actually didn't know that you could reroll  ).

PS: I've decided to give you a mulligen on the petname thing. I mean...seriously... "snoo-pay"? Surely you can do better. :p

PPS: And another thing, if you can't appreciate the ingenuity and sheer coolness of what this guy did and just enjoy the thread, then I feel bad for you. You must be a bitter bitter man.

Why is it that in the presence of one another the pair of you regress to acting like 5 year olds in less than 5 seconds?

I'm closing this thread. In the future, I would appreciate it if when either of you opens a thread, the other simply doesn't post in it.

And if I find a new thread being started that offers provocation in any way to lure out these kind of arguments, posting privileges will be suspended, as well.
