Level Drained ?

Guys - did I mess up ?
I just noticed my character hasn't leveled up in awhile, so I checked his record.
It says "Level Drained"; there's no level point totals ?

All the other characters have leveled = I'm stumped
I just finished the slums section and I'm at level 6 ... that doesn't seem to be good per this stage of the game :-(

I went thru the .pdf manual, didn't see a reference to "level drained".
Please don't tell me I have to start over.

Can someone tell me what happened ... what to do/fix the problem ... can this character be saved ... any help is appreciated = thanks !

You get level drained by certain enemies, particularly vampires. All you have to do is either go to a temple and purchase restoration/greater restoration, or if you have a cleric in your party you can get them to cast restoration on your main character. This will restore your level and experience to what they should be (you will not have missed out on any experience as it still calculates this so you will probably level up once you are restored again).

If you don't have a cleric who can cast restoration, i strongly recommand to always carry a couple of restoration scrolls with you....just in case.

I'm playing with a big party

I've been saving every scroll I find, but being a Cavalier, I can't use them.
But, being the bad gamer I am, I always have a big party

... someone should have the scroll

It thought I'd ask these question here, as to not create 2 more threads .....>

When looking for level drain solutions, I came across several FAQ/hints/tips/info sites.

1) One site mentioned a +2 longsword as being the best in the game ?
Here's the info...>
"Cheat: Best Sword Ever
The code is killsw01 and it is a +2 sword but once equipped it does 1000 damage a hit and puts your armor class down 10. It also gives you magic resistance and special powers like haste."

Is this correct ?
I think I found/can buy a +2 longsword ... are they the same sword ?
The damage amount seems obscene

I don't want to cheat, but I'd like to find it if possible !

2) On romances, do any of them end nicely ?
All I read is: "I will just get dumped(Viconia) or they will leave(Jeheira).
I know it seems minor, but I hate going thru all the "schmoozing" for nothing ... I'd just forgo the dialoging and fight

I did read the Jeheira thread below, but became more confused.

Any help would be appreciated.
I'm not a good gamer and BG2 seems like Diablo2 LoD x5 .... with all the characters/plots/dialogue etc.
I'm getting swamped in "what I should do"; rather than, "just playing the game".
I like BG2 = being physically disabled, the "pause" feature is a godsend ... now if I just could figure out how to counter all the freakin spells used on me

This is my first run-through ... I went Cavalier for the immunities ?
Who knows how many characters I'll try = not sure what's good vs useless
So, if I become a bother, just let me know

It's a tough game without a nice spiral manual ... I have 100+ pages of printouts to help, but during a game, I just have more to handle = not good

I'll try not to overwhelm the forum with newbie questions.

1: I think this is the sword used by a certain character that comes into play when you try to attack a story-line connected character (and thus killing you instantly).
You cannot obtain this sword by any normal means, only by cheating, or by using a certain exploit in the game.

2:Romance is a part of the game, you can romance viconia, jaheira, aery and amonem. when you have selected the right race and gender.
Non of them end badly when you play your cards right, and i dont think any of the character leave when you mess up.
But remember that certain characters don't go well in a team together (the evil and good allignment characters don't go well in most cases)

I'll try and play my "romamce cards" correctly !

Maybe next I'll play a spellcaster and try and get the hang of the spell fighting ?
This part seems my toughest obstacle to winning fights without taking bigtime damage

The trick with spellcasters is to remember to use defensive spells as well as offensive spells, and remember that you can pause the game while you choose which spell to cast and who to cast it on.

Mr Sir is right...the spacebar is your friend.
I always pause every 5-10s in a fight.
Also autopause can be very handy.

Your main character doesn't have to be a spellcaster to learn how to cast spells in battle.
Don't forget your party members, it is imortant to pick those members that fit in your group with both allignment and class.

It's learning all these spells vs what I should throw for OFF or DEF & when to throw them that's baffling me
