Grey/Red Locations ?

Post by joe05 »

Guys - I just received a quest as I entered the Temple District. Help a village in Umar Hills, but it's greyed out and I can't travel there ?
The boy said soon; Jeheira said soon = I'm thinking I should go now :-)

I can't access two other locations = but I think it's because I prolonged doing the quests ... they were given to me early on ... they are greyed out as well(de' Arnise Keep & Windsper Hills)

Did I make another newbie error :-(

The Umar Hills quest was just given to me, so I know I'm not tardy on that quest ?

What gives :-)
----------
Mr_Sir / Stligar ... if it helps, my party is: Me(Cavalier) + Minsc + Jaheira + Edwin + Jan + Viconia
This relates to my previous thread and spellcasting etc....
I will add Mazzy when she turns up.

Well, to travel out of Athkatla for the first time, you have to go to the City Gates district of the city, then you can go through the gate and out into the countryside.

As for the urgency of certain locations...most of them can be completed at any point, if you had Nalia in your party she'd be pretty insistant you go to her Keep, but otherwise complete the quests in your own time, they'll still be waiting.

Also, to get to the further away locations, sometimes you need to go to a closer location on your map first after leaving through the city gates (thats always been my experience anyway).

Although there is no particular order to do quests etc., be aware that some of the quests are easier than others, for example: (highlight as its slight spoilers)
Spoiler
the Umar quest, in my opinion, is harder than the Nalia's Keep quest so I'd tend to do the latter first

As far as I know there are quite a few threads on spellcasters etc. and party ideas, combat tips etc. so having a look through some of these may help you get to grips with the game. If you have any questions though, feel free to ask :)

Yep, the Umar Hills quest is an example of that.

@joe05, glad to help. :)
