spell creations and monks speed?

Post by Emnelion »

I'm wondering if there's any program that allows you to create your own spells and innate abilities? I thinks I've read something about that somewhere but couldn't find it.

The thing is: My main character is a monk, but the rest of my party doesn't move with increased speed (and I NEVER use the Boots of Speed or such because I think that's just chease, BIG TIME) and it's sooo anoying to have my party so shattered when moving over greater distances.
so I was thinking: Is it possible to decrease the monks movement speed to normal, ie no bonus, via ShadowKeep; and then give him an innate ability that gives him his movement bonus back so I can activate it during battles and scouting?

And another thing, if the creation of such an innate ability is possible, is it possible to make the uses per day unlimited?

Would be thankful for some help.

Remove all the movement speed bonuses your monks gained via Shadowkeeper. You'll have to re-do it every time your monk gains a movement speed bonus :(

Yeah, I'll have to nullify his movement bonus and change the innate ability to gain all his bonuses back every time he gets his movementspeed increased; but that's only every 5th level, so that isn't a bother.
Not if it's relatively easy to create spells.

But all this is just headaches after I get it confurmed that you CAN do your own spells. And if you can I need help getting the program.

But before that could you explain why you think Boots of Speed is cheesy ?

Its just with so many of them being in BG2 and more in TOB its possibly just to have your entirely party hastened to keep up with your monk.

Although creating spells is possible - there's a spell in the watcher's keep given to you for a day which is an innate ability that casts 'mantle' on yourself and its not a mage spell so anyone could cast it - it was an innate spell.

Ever tried a monk which can only be hit by +3 weapons or more

I don't think boots of speed are cheesy as they don't give any attack bonuses and if you play through the game many times it can get annoying to wait for your characters to run from one place to another. I usually give the boots of speed to my chacters right from the beginning via shadowkeeper. Makes the game far more enjoyable as you have run A LOT.

Well I have to admit that I myself used to give my whole party Boots of Speed, but that was some time ago really. The thing is, the Boots of Speed gives your character so fast movement that you are able to run forht and hit an enemy and then run away before the enemy has delivered his/her attack.

Boots of Speed given to a thief is even cheasier. The hasted thief can so rediciously easy make hit n' run backstabbs, and that alone is just chease becouse a thiefs backstabbs are one of the games absolute deadliest and most effective weapons/damage dealer/whatever, I think you understand.

But also, a thief wearing the Boots of Speed is immune to all spells with a castingtime greater then 3 becouse they can run out of the casters range of sight and hide, and then the casting is automaticly canceled. And if the caster succedes in casting any stunning, holding or such spell (the illithids mind blast included) you can outrun the projectile and hide, or find some place where the enemies won't find you; and just wait for the spell duration to exspires.

Also I'm very conserned about my characters looks. And I think it's kinda' silly to watch your fighter make 200 hits per round and your casters to whave thier hands like they try to fly away. :p

Anyway, the Boots of Speed is one of the items I avoid to use since, to make a summary, it takes away game-plesure. :)
