Discrimination against Neutral! *spoilers*

Post by hellhawk »

Doesnt anyone else think that neutral characters are discriminated against is KOTOR2? I mean they dont have any prestiege classes and they cant get into the secret cave/tomb bit in the Shyrack cave in Korriban why must you be forced into being either light or dark, as both have drawbacks (pompous, arrogant Jedi and short-sighted, self obbsessed Sith!)

Yes, I agree, but I also think it's the price you pay for trying to have the best of both worlds. Sith and Jedi have to sacrifice Lightside and Darkside powers, respectively. The grey Jedi have their own sacrifices to make.

Most probably Obsidian Entertainment never put much thought into developing that alignment. Anyway, both the KOTOR series seems to be focused on either the light or dark side so don't expect much from going neutral in either of the games. :D

Why? Admittedly the DS always gives slightly more XP, as I've discovered after lenghty investigation, but apart from that...

The only reason to choose either LS or DS is if you want a prestige class. If you do not care about having a prestige class then you can play the entire game as neutral.

I think some may have but I'm not one of them. ;)

Nope. No neutral prestige classes exist in the game. :)

Yes and no. I always thought that the underlying theme of KOTOR2 was about effects of your actions on others - hence, influence, allignment etc. So its geared towards you taking a path and living with the consequences: and because its only a computer game, that's a choice between light and dark. Neutral would seem to miss the point kind of.

That said, one of my best characters was neutral...

I think it would be cool if they did something for the grey Jedi. I mean come on one of the great Star Wars characters Jolee Bindo was a grey Jedi.
Here is a wise saying from Luke Skywalker, "NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!" And that was a word from Luke. Have a nice day! :)

I do get annoyed sometimes at the lack of middle way answers in the dialogue. Like when you're being threatened, there's rarely a LS choice that doesn't sound fairly... well, wimpy.
That said, I'm not sure what a neutral response would look like for many situations. Like if you rescue a guy from getting mugged, for example: is the neutral repsosne "you can go, but I'm still going to give you a nasty chinese burn just to let you know I'm not totally good"?

The Star Wars milieu as a whole is geared towards one side or the other...basically, the game is staying in character by pushing your character towards the LS or DS. It would be a departure to venture into the greater possibilities represented by a Force Adept who uses both sides of the Force. Personally, I would love to see that. However, do not be surprised nor dismayed that KoTOR II favors either extreme, but not the middle. There seems to be vague hints pointing towards Force users who master both sides, but from what I gather from what little I know of the Star Wars setting, such individuals were either rare, members of ancient species/orders, or both.
