Can't kill Umbra.. WHY? (sorta spoiler)

Post by Desperado777 »

Hey guys.. my first post lol. You guessed it, I'm a newbie. I've been reading the forums and the umbra sword seems to be everyones favorite workhorse. I've decided to get it, so I went to the dungeon. I made it all the way to the back where she is, got on that edge pillar things and starting to shoot at her with my bow and arrow. Problem is I've emptied about 40 iron arrows and about 30 fireballs on her and not a single scratch.. wondering what is going on??? If someone knows, please let me know how to fix it... PLEASE

thanks

Well, she's pretty tough but if you're in a spot where she can't reach you it seems like you should eventually be able to take her down with ranged attacks. Unless... does she heal herself? Usually a tell-tale blue glow when a character casts a heal spell. If so, it may be that she can heal faster than you can dish out damage. In which case you'll need stronger spells, a better bow (preferably magic), or better arrows (also preferably magic), or all of the above.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

She's a VERY tough cookie!

And, if she didn't attack you first, when you kill her, you become a murderer and the DB will come to you ... And she has NEVER attacked me first... :(

interesting but cant tell

the only glow that I've seen is a purple one.. whatever that means. Its really frustrating but even if she heals herself.. I mean 40 arrows? I one point I put in 15 while she was in front of me. Something funky... maybe a glitch? Some please help. I'm wondering if the latest patch made it so you cant stand on that pillar and cause damage. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think thats the problem

I don't think thats the problem as so many people have killed her even before reaching level 10. I read one guy killed her at at a really low level like 3 or something ridiculous. I myself are 6 (yeah I know thats low) but apparently people have done it.

Well, one obvious solution to the problem would be to level up more  I mean, I didn't even bother until level 23 after she whooped me at level 9. Or you could turn down the difficulty a bit (provided that it's not already at -100, which would be REALLY sad :( ) Also, you can't have found too much good gear at level 6, so look around and try to get some new kit. Oh, and don't worry about the guys who say they beat 'er at level 3, because they probably either turned the difficulty all the way down, made and Über weapon with the CS, used the console and typed "KILL", or made it up to impress people (as if accomplishments in video games deserve any recognition whatsoever in the real world  )

one thing to do to kill her faster is go to rindiers staff or something like that, and buy the apeothis staff(like 5000 gold) it has shock, fire and ice damage kills her in like 3 strikes very easy.

And it might not be me, but i did post something a while ago that i killed umbra at level 3,WITH THE STAFF MIGHT I ADD

and to ALIEN NEWBORN i have a 360 so i cant cheat and the difficulty bar was about half an inch above the middle of the bar, im telling you go get the staff and try it for yourself

Errr... first off, it's "Apotheosis"
Given that the staff does 99 damage total (which is an obscene amount of damage at level 3), and that every enemy in the game levels with the player (meaning she probably had maybe 200 health or less), and that you yourself said it kills in three hits, I've yet to be impressed. Personally, I'd be more impressed with myself that I did it at level 23 (when stronger enemies have at least 500-600 health) with an unenchanted elven short sword (15 damage). Playing cheap doesn't require any effort, and as such doesn't deserve any acknowledgement :D
And...uhhhh... by the way, Desperado, if you really are quite desperade ;) , then you might as well go buy Apotheosis and kick Umbra's arse. I mean, sure it's the cheapest staff in the game, but that obviously doesn't matter these days anyway

Still laughing at people who inadvertently support my arguments,
