Melee Fighting Style on Fable2

Post by Raitei »

I want to ask your opinions about melee fighting style in Fable 2. I'd like to discuss it because I think melee attack in Fable was lack on having cool combo strike. How about if we can have multiple kind of combo strike, example like Sudeki, have a combo to stun the enemy, strike multiple enemies, deadly combo stike that slower than other combos, etc.

...No thanks...I prefer simple kills to hard ones. Also, on TLC the flurish attack when you spin your sword around could hit multiple enamies.

Agreed. an RPG should stay simple. the physical upgrading could get a bit more detailed thoug

And to add to that, when u are preparing to make a big strike where the head of ur hammer is at the lower end of ur back ( also a flourish attack ), U are also able to hit enemy's with it already on the floor.

As what both Triline and Matthew had mentioned, the combat should not be too complicated. I'd much prefer that the combat is more varied instead of button-mashing type combos prevalent in console fighting games like Tekken for example.

I remember Project-404 ever mentioned it somewhere back at the Fable: The Lost Chapters forum before but its more like when the guy is lying unconscious, you use the greathammer to smash his head or something along the lines for an ordinary attack, not flourish.

Lionhead's also thinking about one hit kills. And they want to add things in like, if you're attacked in a bar, you can smash a bottle and whip it at someones face.

Yes. I saw the trailer of Peter Molyneux's presentation at the Game Conference in Leipzig. He demonstrated a few trailers about one hit kills and context sensitive moves. Quite cool, if you ask me, and I feel that's what Lionhead is going to implement in Fable 2's combat system.

Yes. This article is from Gamespot and it is titled, "Molyneux: This is NOT Fable 2." You'll see the video next to it. You can view it on the site or you can download the video (provided that you have an account at Gamespot) and watch it later as it is pretty long. ;)

No problem. I really liked the demonstration too, even though the it was shown near the end of Mr. Molyneux's speech at the Leipzig Game Conference (my, what a very long and interesting speech indeed). :)

I might have an idea here. What about the idea of having slight pauses when you hit an enemy within the arc of your weapon? For example, when you swing your sword, it will be in an arc and any enemy within it will get hit. I got this idea from Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It looks kind of cool to me. :)
