Over 300 K and nowhere to spend it (HoTU spoilers)

Post by dragon wench »

Okay... I'm probably midway through the Underdark. I have found all kinds of powerful items, some of which I've kept, some of which I've given to my henchmen, many of which I've sold. I keep looking at the armorer and at the mage merchant.. I have checked in with my Djinni in the bottle. I've upgraded Enserric as much as possible...
I considered getting a ring of protection +6, but because of the other stuff I'm wearing it only increased my AC by one, so I reloaded since it seemed a waste of cash. I'm toying with the idea of a ring of power.. but given that I'm a druid (immune to poison, freedom, resistance spells, elder elemental form) in addition to having a Master Amulet of Health, this seems a bit redundant...

Erm... When I get further on will I actually need all of this gold, or should I just spend go on a frivolous shopping spree? :D

Well, Without spoiling to much, then there comes a time where money might be handy.
And also - a merchant exists in the beginning of the last chapter which I seem to recall have some good items.
And you could always upgrade your henchmens weapons as well.
So as I recall it, 300K could easily get legs to walk on.

OKay, cheers Xandax!
I'm presently attempting to defeat a certain dracolich...so in addition to the other tactics I'm trying... upgrading my henchmens' weapons as well might not be a bad idea....
I had considered this as well, but I was also wondering if there were some good items to be bought in chapt three.

As Xandax said, there is a time when the money is handy, also there are some pretty nice items for sale in Chapter 3 which cost a fair bit of cash so if you don't need to spend it or upgrade your weapons in Chapter 2 then my advice would be to save it for Chapter 3 :)

Indeed... Money will be very handy later on.

If you use henchmen, you might want to upgrade their items as well if you can afford it.

Thanks guys!

Hmm.. that amount is now up to 450 K.... "Humbling" a certain undead dragon proved to be a profitable experience :D
Damn... that was one of the more challenging battles I've encountered in a game. Vix’thra makes Firkragg seem about as dangerous as an emasculated tellytubby...

More on topic though, should I upgrade Valen's flail (or is it a morningstar? I can't recall just now) before initiating the finale to chapter two? Seeing as he just put the killing blow to aforementioned dragon, I'm thinking it may be superfluous, but I'd appreciate any thoughts.

As I remember it, you can't get Valen's flail off him to upgrade it. He won't let go of it. I think there's a mod at the vault though that allows this.

@Maxon,
yes you are right regarding Valen's flail, I found that out last night.

Update:
I was dragged (unwillingly) into chapter 3 last night, and have since discovered that hanging onto my cash was a good thing :D
So thanks for the advice on that!
Now...what to do with it... there's a nice bow... a helmet... Decisions, decisions...

Tip on a bow: You don't have to buy a very good one, you just have to look around in hell for it :p

Oh and I managed to waste 2 million gold in less than 10 minutes :D
