Xill and etheralness

Post by andrewknaut »

Hey, I'm new and trying to find a better board then the wizards, since the people their suck... :P
Anyway, i have a question.
Xill can planewalk and go in and out of the ethereal plane. So I'm a bit confused on what happens when they are etheral. Can they attack things still on the material plain, as well are they invisible? All the readings ive done on ethereal have been very elusive of acutely answering my question...thanks a lot.

Ethereal plane and material plane go right through each other.

Ghosts = Ethereal plane, Humans = material plane.

Thus, if you were to go on the ethereal plane, you would have a miss chance against anything material, just the same as you have a miss chance against anything ethereal while on the material plane.

Since the Xill use materialistic weapons, they do still incur the normal miss chance for anybody on the material plane, just like everybody else. A ghost does not because a ghost is using the ethereal plane to his advantage, the worst he's doing is swiping through your chest with his hand, and then the effect comes in.

But yeah, Xill's use weapons, longswords and daggers, meaning he can attack, but needs to make a percentile roll to see if he hits.

They aren't invisible on the material plane, anybody who forcebly goes to the ethereal plane is still visible.

And why would he have blink on him? It doesn't say that anywhere in the monster description.
