I'm level drained!
I'm level drained!
From reading a little on the forums, I attempted Windspear Hills a little too soon. Several of my characters are level drained, making most of the game difficult. Does the drain go away over time, or do I need to go back several "days" to a save game from before the drain and have another go at things?

Unless you have a cleric that can cast a restoration spell, you need to visit a temple and pay to have one of the priests there remove the level drain.

The spell Negative Plane Protection really helps with preventing level drain.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

why waste gold at a temple ???? it's 800 per person; not inexpensive early in the game
option A) have a cleric cast restoration
option B) equip a scroll of restoration in the quickslot and have a mage cast
similarcum or project image. casting the restoration is now free
Option C) Vhalors helm found in adventurer's mart can be used to implement option B
expensive but your going to get that item anyway
Windspear hills can be done straight out of Chateau Irenicus I would certanly reccomend doing it asap if you have a Paladin onboard if not take your time Firkraag is hard at level 8-9 and unless you need Carsomyr he can wait
to avoid this in the future send an enraged char to deal with vamps, and fight them from a doorway so as not to get surrounded. The rest of your team fires arrows from behind the blocked door. negative plane protection can help but it only lasts 30 seconds.

NPP runs out far too soon - I have a number of solutions which ignore that option
1. use summoned creatures as cannon-fodder and have a hasted character throw Azuredge at the drainers from distance
2. pay up quickly and get the Amulet of Power - that artifact is perhaps the best in the game for a spellcaster - hopefully the wearer can distract the drainers whilst the others destroy them
3. improved MoD - get rid of Bodhi and pick up the Mace of Destruction - have it enhanced with Illithium and go mental swishing it around.
4. do some near-solo adventures with a cleric and get the cleric up a few levels - then turn, baby, turn! don't you just love it when the undead explode?
5. Daystar - "do you believe the clear white light will guide us on"? Lindisfarne did. the future's so bright we gotta wear shades - but the shades themselves can't wear adventurers, so they disappear.
I had tremendous fun with Anomen wandering in the temple ruins - he was lvl 17/18 and those fiends, shades etc just disappeared. I had him wander along, MoD in hand, all the way to the dungeon entrance when he turned on the lights and darkness flew away.
