dark pact bracelet and flamebone

Post by jerrye »

Well here I am again......grimace. I killed malokan (with arrows) and he didn't drop the bracelet has anybody seen this problem ? ? ? I also cannot find Flambone anywhere around his shack over near the breeding grounds and I sure am getting tired of getting killed by the Drake's flames.....I sure could use some help to finish up this section. I cannot move on until I finish these two quests........Help......Please

Hi jerrye:

Flamebone should be there...have you gotten the quest from flask guy? (um, erlinmir). He can be found on the Arindale side of the woodlands after passing through the elven outpost area. Usually around the road or near a campfire and chest. I think you need to speak with him first before trying to fight Flamebone. If you have spoken to him already then this is a puzzling problem.

As fo the dark pact bracelet, I have noticed that sometimes when creatures are killed at a great distance with ranged weapons that they sometimes fail to drop whatever loot they were supposed to. I always save right before an important battle just in case something goes wrong. If you cannot find the bracelet, try talking to the elf guy in the outpost anyway. You may still get credit for completing the quest, but it is doubtful if you will receive the item given as a reward. (you should still get honor and points though). Otherwise, you may have to re-load from an earlier save and try again.

Maybe somebody else may have a better answer to these issues. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the response

It looks like I have gotten myself into a mess. I have talked to the guy in the woods and I may have killed flamebone when I got the dragon egg on another visit here......I don't suppose that the key is still laying around after several saves. I am a little concerned with the dark pact braclet not being available after the kill since I don't have any saves that will let me go back to Malokan.....so it looks like I will just have to move on with these two Quests not fulfilled.......if I can.......thanks for the response

Too bad. :(

The only thing I could suggest is the game editor. See the sticky at the top of the page. You honestly tried to do the quests, so you should get the credit for them. If you use the editor be sure to back up your character (save in two slots). There has been a problem with levels being set back, but if you follow this tip you will avoid that. See this example:

Image

Notice that the experience points are 20173 and the advancement points are 2462. If I don't change that the editor will set my experience back to 2462, making the character a lower level. In the area where you see the advancement points type in 20173 so it is the same number as your experience points. Then your level will be unaltered. It is a minor glitch in the editor.

Both Flamebone's key and the Dark Pact bracelet are under miscellaneous. (go to the items tab on the editor). If you have trouble, post back. :)

I use the editor for one character, since I am modifying the different armors so I have to give them to her so I can see my changes.

Thanks to KathyCF

A special thanks to KathyCF for the support and a shoulder to cry on....grin
I found a save to go back just before killing Malokan......and.....I killed him all over....and he dropped the bracelet as advertised...smile. I guess that there is a bug since I tried killing him several ways and using the arrows to finish him off will not work. I sat in the water and hit him until he was almost finished and then I worked him around on flat ground and went in and finished him with a sword. I since have confirmed that I had previously killed Flamebone and didn't get the key....so.....I can either use the editor or just not complete that quest.......still thinking......grimace. Thanks again you have been a great help and I am having as much fun as a 70 year old can have.

All Problems solved.....for now

Well I finally decided to use the editor......and.....with a very short learning curve......it worked just great....and solved my final problem of not picking up the key to firebones shack......now all I have to do is stay out of the editor when I get flustered later in the game....... :p

Good news, that.

I know what you mean about the editor, I have to really limit the use of it for just a few special items...otherwise it just is too much. It is a good tool though. :)
