is it possible to use ToB characters in a SoA game? ( items // skills )

Yes it is, as long as you have ToB installed.

However, unless you perform a certain bug, when you start anew you WILL lose all your items.

I did this once and it almost ruined the game for me... It was a blast for about 10 minutes then got super boring...

Yep.

A single level seven character is more than enough. I recommend against it.
