I've now got a lvl 8 Barbarian and I'm wondering what is the best class to multi-class with,or even what is the best prestige class. i want to make the dude a very hard and capable tank, with abilities to protect other people. what should I go for. So far, he is using a harbinger kin +1, has 18 str and 14 con, is Chaotic Good doing the Watch quest line. He also has feats in power attack, and cleave. any assistanc will be greatly appreciated.

Skandaman, back from the dead, and now kicking butt again. Fear him for he's angry and fillled with sugar. Mmm sugar.
Barbs mix well with rogue levels due to the armor restrictions - but I see you are looking for a more powerful tank so rogue may not be ideal.
One suggestion would be to start taking fighter levels. Fighters have access to more feats per level and those extra feats can really boost your damage and attack bonuses. Feats like weapon specialization, improved critical, and even defensive feast like dodge and mobility are very useful to fighter types. Barbarians really only receive rage bonuses at higher levels and the extra feats available to a fighter are more valuable IMHO.
Weapon Master and Frenzied Berserker would be a two good ideas for a prestige class. Both offer bonuses to combat skills that would make your barbarian more powerful. Another one that might be interesting if you are looking to add some divine powers would be Divine Champion. I would recommend searching the forum for information on these classes to get some good build ideas. I am sure some other folks will offer their 2 cents as well

Yeah, fighter and frenzied berzerker levels are the way to go for a hardened tank. Much later in the game, neverwinter 9 levels would make you much better at protecting allies (as you mentioned you wanted to do). Plus, it gives you some nice bonuses as well if you take more than 1 or 2 levels (5 lvls is max tho).
Divine champ is a possibility but I would stick to fighter/FB/NW9 levels to accomplish want you want for your character. You can mix it up however you want, I would consult the feat database on this site to see what you like and level accordingly.
