+4 weapons (Spoiler)
+4 weapons (Spoiler)
Hello I just got through the entire watchers keep. Except for the demon prince Demogorgon and I want to kill him.
But I have read a little here and a little there and it seems that I need a weapon with +4 or more to kill him. Same for a bunch of other creatures like liches.
I am a lvl 22 dwarven fighter and I dont have any +4 weapons. I use axes but I have only found a +3 axe and if I attack him with that I cant even hit.
Is there no magic or something to get a better weapon?
Where can I find a +4 axe?
Do I really need +4 or more to hurt him?

There aren't any +4 axes in SoA, unless you have the Item Upgrade mod, in which case Azure Edge can be upgraded to +4.
What other weapons have you specialised in? There are +4 weapons in SoA, a couple of Halberds, a few 2-handed swords (Carsomyr is actually +5 if you have a Paladin), Boneblade a +4 dagger (in Ust Natha, see walkthrough) and the +1, +4 vs Giants Warhammer which counts as a +4 for what it can hit. Daystar unfortunately was messed up and for some reason doesn't count as a +4, unless you can fix it with IEE pro.

If your in ToB you can upgrade the flail of ages to +4 before taking on Demagorgon. If not Crom Fayer is a +5 hammer, Carsomyr, Mace of distruption +2 (actually hits as +5), Wave Halberd, Gesen's bow are all good weapons that hit as +4 or better. Basically anything forged for you by Cromwell is a good bet, though this is just off the top of my head during a break in between classes hope it helps just a little bit
If you have a mage of a similar level on board you can pwn him quite easly by just casting Improved Alcracity and following up with all the magic defense piercing spells such as RRoR or Breach and letting your tank do the hacking. A solo fighter might find it difficult

Hmm. I have 5 points on axes and 4 points on hammers. I have Edwin with me so he might be able to make some nice spells. I have some +4 long swords and daggers but they are only good in the hands of Edwin and Minsc, and Minsc just dies right away.
But I guess I can use a +4 bow on him, and equipp my two dwarven tanks with dagger and see how it goes.
I think I tried with +4 weapons before but I still cant seem to hit him, and even if I hit him it still says that he is Undamaged, and my hits are inneffective or something like that.
What magics can be used to remove whatever special super duper magic armor thingy he has on himself?
Just Breach and Pierce Magic doesnt seem to do the job

Carsomyr is great for this purpose: it not only hits in the right hands, but it also removes spells on the thing you hit, at the same time. You don't have a paladin at hand, do you?

nobody mentioned the Staff of Rhyn - can be bought at Adventurers Mart - it is +4 and I have used to to knock sense into liches. boneblade is natural +4 and the star dagger can be upgraded to +5. the Daystar glitch is annoying.
I didn't know that MoD counted as higher or the giantkin hammer was treated at its max for determining what it can hit.
the Staff of the Magi seems to hit anything - so a buffed-up ubermage can merrily drum away with that stick.
the improved axe of the unyielding is very neat for axemen.
I usually have MUs using wands and lower res to weaken demogorgon and casters cast alignment-dependent damaging spells - holy smite etc - summoning a planetar can help. I think that I may once have virtually trapped DG to death once - when Yoshimo was still around and at level 20+
I also think that Sir Anomen did critical damage with Crom Freyr one time and we sent DG back to the abyss that way.
I've found lots of ways in addition to laying multiple cloud kills and then breaching - with insect plague to affect casting. that insect plague is a reason to put up with Jaheira.
happy hunting

For Demogorgon just keep breaching, casting ruby ray of reversal and warding whip. Have all your prebufffed tanks GWW him. Carsomyr is also good but it dispels at level 10 only not too usefull. however you can also try remove magic but odds are demogorgon will be 5-10 levels higher than your best mage, so again no go with that spell but you don't need it. your mages should always be occupied casting the spells I mentioned above (under improved alcracity) but don't cast timestop since he is immune.
Edit: spell strike (lvl 9) is also a good spell to consider

What about dispelling arrows? If you can get his protections down, Carsormyr should be sufficient to keep them from going back up. Of course, the same could be said for the arrows, but that's wasting one-use items.

I've never used dispelling arrows as I have never needed them. I assume they dispell either at your level or automatically with no save, if that's the case then they certainly are usefull.
As for Carsomyr, and other spells cast from items, they cast at level 10. I don't recall the exact formula, but if something is at the spell casting level (in this case 10) their is a 50/50 chance of it affecting the recipient, (Allies excluded). However if the intended target has a higher level than the spell casting level the chance steeply decreases to a minimum of 1%. With Demogorgon being level 20+ your Carsomyr will have a 1% chance per hit to dispell. If he does get his protections back up I doubt Carsomyr will do anything in less you whack him for over a turn, in which case the protections will run out naturally or you'll kill him.
When it comes to arrows Fable, you just inspired a new strategy. What about those arrows that take off 30% hp with a failed save ?? those would affect him 1 in 20 times at least
Edit: Indeed I looked it up anything level 15+ has a 1% chance of being dispelled by Carsomyr assuming the sword dispels at level 10

And if you had at least 2, possibly 3 party members shooting them, with decent summoned critters taking the melee brunt, your chances look a bit better.Jedi_Sauraus wrote:When it comes to arrows Fable, you just inspired a new strategy. Well, now, that's just disgusting. What a waste of a wonderful blade! A shame Daystar's messed up, too. I tried doing a check on mods, but couldn't find anything that fixes Daystar out there.Edit: Indeed I looked it up anything level 15+ has a 1% chance of being dispelled by Carsomyr assuming the sword dispels at level 10
EDIT: Just noticed that the WeiDU mod Underrepresented Items includes upgrades and new weaponry such as:
Flail Of Ages +5 (free action, 5% mr, 33% slow) [9500]
Storm Star +5 [5500]

Don't get me wrong Fable, even a 1/20 chance is excellent for the effect those arrows do. Statistically using GWW you'll get the desired effect once every 2 rounds which is pretty good. Of course the chances go up with more party members firing but the question is would he be immune ?? I know you can't just decapitate him with the ravager in 1 round for example so he may be immune to those things that insta-kill ??
If there was somewhere I could upload it I could make my Daystar fix available, but this site doesn't appear to havethat facility.fable wrote:And if you had at least 2, possibly 3 party members shooting them, with decent summoned critters taking the melee brunt, your chances look a bit better.

This would be WeiDU compatible? Because if so, you might inquire over on the Gibberlings Three or Pocket Plane Group site. I suspect one of them would host it.galraen wrote:If there was somewhere I could upload it I could make my Daystar fix available, but this site doesn't appear to havethat facility.
Or you might write here to Buck Satan, and see if there's anywhere on this site where downloads are available.
