Hi. Got a little problem here... I am on original Xbox Morrowind and became a master of house Telvanni. Now when I talk to my master about 'Magister' he says something like "You have Foreswarn the title of Magister by being a Master."

How do I fix this tragic fate?

Why do you want to demote yourself?

Magister is the title above master. Try killing the Arch-magister. Make a backup save before you do that though.

Sorry, I misread the original post, I thought he/she had already taken out Gothren.

The full responce should be (according to the CS) 'You have foresworn the title of Magister... But perhaps you have changed your mind. Will you fight Archmagister Gothren and claim the title as your own?', simply answer yes, and got kick Gothren's butt.

NOOOOOOOO!! That won't solve it! This situation is the Telvanni advancement glitch; sorry, pal, but there is no turning back. You're screwed. Next time though, DO NOT rank up from WIZARD until AFTER the Recruit a Mouth chore!!! Stay a Spellwright! The game bumps you up a rank automatically after that chore if you don't do this, and once you reach Master you're stuck.
