Help with collector quest

I am at Fanacas but I can't find the statue. I just keep going around in circles and I can't seem to find any new passage. Where should I go?

It's in Fanacas itself, not Fanacasecul, at the far east end of the dungeon, you may have to go swimming to reach it, but I'm not sure.

Is that the place where that one thing makes the imp things follow you? If not then I'm lost too.
I only post with personal exp. So I will not answer anything about the dark brotherhood, and easter eggs.
