Whats'up with Habib?

The first time you enter the docks do you guys have some idiot named habib throw a scimitar at you? What is that all about, it's hilarious, but does it mean anything. He always gets away b4 i can get him.

. i dont think it has anything to do with the plot though.

He also appears when you enter the temple of Ilmater. The priest tells you a bit more .

Interplay had a contest (could it have been this spring?) where you could send in information on your most interesting PnP-character. The best one got to be included in the game - that's Habib. I don't remember to much of what I read about him except that he is a thief with lousy stats (dex excluded), and a real coward, too. That's why he prefers to throw his scimitar and run instead of fighting. I find it remarkable that they let him keep the name Khalid considering this name was already used in BG 1 and 2.
