i love spell absorbtion

Post by Tool »

100% its great. no magic can hurt me. i thought i made a big mistake picking a birthsign that shunted magic, but with the help of equipment, I am unstoppable.

anybody else have any cool fortifications or abilities?

There was a recent thread about how 100% chameleon equals god mode, so I won't beat that dead horse.

Personally, what I find a lot more fun than that, is getting acrobatics skill in the 200 - 300 range. You can jump to places you're not supposed to go, navigate cities on the rooftops instead of the streets, find some unexpected shortcuts through otherwise linear Oblivion gates, explore some dungeons backwards by jumping up onto bridges or through holes that are supposed to be exit only, etc.

Also, I haven't done it personally, but I've watched a guy who had over 100% reflect damage. I'm usually fairly impressed with the AI for creatures and NPCs, but in this case the poor dummies just kept beating on him until they died.

p.s. a neat special purpose combination is a ring of water walking and as many fire resistance items as you can wear, potions you can drink or spells you can cast on yourself. Then run out across the lava inside oblivion gates and explore the little islands you can see in the distance.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

As I recall, 100 isn't 100%. It is a high rating for that stat, but you may end up very surprised when something gets through it. ;)

i prefer absorption over reflection. your magic refills, so you can cast your own, much better spell than what is being reflected.

i wish i could find something that resists normal weapons more than like 15% from the rings or shirts i find around. i dont believe a sigil stone exists for it, and i havent found a spell to buy for it either. im sure it exists, so dont tell me. but having a resist normal weapons 100% would be pretty sweet too

I don't know if there is a spell for that or not but a really good one (and my personal favorite) is 100% or more Reflect Damage. You can't be hurt and the enemies end up killing themselves! Pretty sweet if you ask me.

Things such as these are game breaking and after a while it becomes kinda mundane. Imagine being immune to spells or damage or even invisible the whole game. You won't need to block or get hit and this makes leveling the appropriate skills pretty difficult. Furthermore, there won't be any challenge to how you play the game and you could just charge at huge numbers of opponents. No tactics or anything.

But I do like a insanely high acrobatics skills. It does open up new vistas and opportunities and its way fun. :D

I agree with you completely. i was getting kind of bored with a daedric longsword and a blade skill of 100, so I picked up a mace and started to work up my Blunt skill. Now that that is up to 90, I've been beating people to a pulp with my fists, or launching mud crabs 10 feet in the air with an enchanted bow.

I only have the 100% spell absorption because of my birthsign. Do you know how annoying it is to not regenerate magic? It's ridiculus. Plus, my Willpower isn't fantastic because I'm not big of the arcane arts. but yes, being too powerful hinders rather than helps enjoy the game.

I would go with two rings with about 50% resist magic and boots and gauntlets with %)% absorb magic.

Heh, if you resist you can absorb, and if you absorb you can't resist.LOL:laugh:

100% spell absorbtion is great...but when paired with 101% reflect damage, you are truly a GOD of Oblivion. NO damage from spells or melee. And an unlimited supply of magic. The ONLY thing that can hurt you is the wee little bow attacks.

I did this on xbox 360, with no codes, mods, hacks or anything. (Can also be done on PC)

No requests to people to contact you for cheats or cheese, please. We use spoilers on GameBanshee just as the sticky thread states at the top of the forum, and make answers available to all who want them. Thanks. -Fable, moderator

No. I am talking about 100% spell absorbtion.

100% of all spell damage is transferred to your own stores of magic.

There are ways to legitimity do it with a combination of transendent sigil stones or certin items.

I know because im lvl 42 and i have had 100% spell absorbtion and 101% reflect damage since lvl 25

We're both right. I checked: spell absorption really is measured on a point system rather than a percentage system in Oblivion, but the points are allocated in a 100-point spread that would be identical to a percentage--that the disagreement is moot. :D

Sign of the Tower is an easy way to get Reflect, as I recall, though there are others.
