What kinda thief

Post by jagwho »

Hi all,
I finished BGII once with a party of me (mage), Minsc (and Boo!), Jaheira, Nalia, Yoshimo (then Imoen), and Mazzy. It was pretty fun overall, but boy did I wish I had a cleric through a lot of the game (didn't feel it was worth it when I finally found one or two). Kind of an irrelevant beginning here...sorry. I've decided to go through the game again to try out a lot of goodies I missed and was going to try a party made by myself. After a bit of thinking, I came up with these five:

Human Paladin
(Human or Elf) Ranger
Human (Fighter or Berz) lv9/ Cleric
Human Kensai lv9 / Mage
Human Berz lv9 / Mage (or Sorcerer...not sure if that's allowed).

Seems to me like a pretty strong group. I've been kind of tossing around a few ideas for theives in my mind (Halfling Thief, Halfling Fighter/Thief, Gnome Illusionist/Thief, Human dual of some sort / Thief), but it's the one character I haven't settled on. I like the looks of the Swashbuckler, but I thought I'd try out a straight thief since I've never really tried taking advantage of its special features (hiding in shadows, backstabbinG) besides trap disarming and lockpicking. I'm curious to hear other people's opinions/ideas on what course I should pursue. Good gaming to all,

Jamie

Honestly, I'd go with a totally different set of NPCs, you'll get different quests, etc. Pick up Jan Jansen for a theif.

No, he did not say he had Yoshimo until the end. Read the post again.

And watch the spoiler information, some of the others on the board do not want you spilling out spoilers without warnings. Have some courtesy.

well if you want to take advantage of hiding the in shadows and back stabbing dont pick a swashbuckler as they cant backstab,

I was going to be a swash buckler but decided on a human fighter thief, i dualed as soon as the game started, that way you have a thief who had good thaco and hitpoints and you dont have to sacrafice any abilites e,g backstabbing, i really recommend doing this as i am enjoying this character a lot, his backstab really packs a punch
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
