Important question that concerns the Game of the Year Edition

I read on Wikipedia today that a GOTY edition will be released this month including SI and KOTN. So, heres my question if I buy this edition will I be able to transfer my character saves to this disc or will I have to make a whole new character just for this edition? Or will this edition tranfer SI and KOTN onto my saves into my game?

don't worry you don't have to create a new character for the expansions. you just have to wait a day and then your character will recieve a message about the quests for the expansions. enoy them, they are AWSOME!!!!

Ha, looks like the ideal gift for Chirstmas gift I would get it now but Halo 3 and all. Thanks a bunch
