I just installed BG2 on my new PC and started a game, but there seem to be some major sound issues. The ambient sounds, etc. seems to work fine, but the characters sounds as well as the conversations during ingame cutscenes are totally messed up.
The starting scene in the irenicus dungeon for example. All I hear is scraps of the conversation. I even turned subtitles on to see what they're supposed to say atm and trust me, they ought to say a lot more than I hear
Same problem with the characters sounds. They simply don't play correctly. It almost seems as if they're played at lightning speed, causing short sound samples not to be heard at all. If I keep clicking on one character I can occassionally hear scraps of what he/she is supposed to say(also turned on subtitles hear), but only if I really keep clicking again and again for like 20seconds.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Could it possibly be related to new hardware being too fast for BG2?
I remember experiencing this issue with ingame cutscenes earlier and on other machines too. But not to this extent, and back then, it didn't affect the character sounds. As far as I know there was a way of fixing this, but I can't remember what it was. First I thought that the high framerate was the cause of this problem, so I turned it down from 60 to 30, but that didn't solve it.
Well anyway, I hope anyone can help me with this problem. Can't imagine playing BG2 without character sounds and ingame movie speeches
So long,
Sol
