More problems with my Skyline Apartments haven

Well the computer terminal is working fine now, but now there's a new problem- I just got access to Chinatown, and now on attempting to return to my haven to check my emails, I find that my character is having trouble navigating the Skyline Apartments ie. can't pass through some doorways etc.

Not only that, but double beds have begun randomly appearing all over the place... in the foyer, and piled up 4 high on top of my computer terminal!

On a side note, can't the running animation be adjusted with a animation speed variable like other games?

This did not fix it, the 4.1 patch works perfectly but the 4.2 does not. I can install the 4.1 patch without any issues, as soon as I patch to 4.2 the pedestrians stop walking around.

It is the 4.2 patch, I removed the files mentioned and it did nothing to fix the issue.

4.1 works perfectly.

Not causing an issue, but why do you call this a patch when it is a patch/mod combination? You have enhancements and you have fixed bugs, so its both really.

I know what you mean, but as far as I know e.g. stealth killing with the tire iron automatically triggers the neck breaking animation and that wouldn't look right with e.g. Ming in her tentacle form. Regarding the animation speed I don't know if that could be changed anywhere.

That is a known random bug that should be fixed by saving and reloading.

Strange, it worked for me and several others. Anyway, expect 4.3 to fix this finally if the updated 4.2 patch at Patches Scrolls didn't.

It's the way I understand the phrase patch. For me a patch should fix bugs but it is also allowed to add new content. There are dozends of official patches that behave like that, the official Bloodlines patch 1.2 itself adjusted gameplay issues and Troika did similar with patches for their earlier games. A mod to me is adding new content to a game that was created by the mod authors and not the game developers and this isn't true for the unofficial patches as I only restore stuff made by Troika and found hidden and unused in their files.

Thanks :) ! I looked into your Obfuscate request in the meantime and noticed that the stealth kill animation isn't the main problem. I removed the truesight of the Chang brothers and while they couldn't see me anymore, the stealth kill icon never even came up. But there are two other more serious issues: 1) most of the boss enemies don't have the truesight variable set at all, so it may be hardcoded that they see through Obfuscate and 2) most of the boss enemies see you enter and talk to you, which would really look strange if you entered Obfuscated: they see you, talk to you, but later on they can't find you anymore? It seems all non talking bosses have truesight off at the moment already...

Maybe its something else? Well... I guess a 4x hit from obfuscate is better than nothing... Does that work at least?

I don't think so. The damage is defined in the weapon files and there is no connection to Obfuscate whatsoever. It's either stealth kill or nothing :( .

...wtf. You know, I don't understand why someone doesn't just make a source mod for this with multiplayer Coop. It doesn't even have to be the original missions. At least that way the ball would be in our court on stuff like this. It could be like the Synergy mod or something. I don't think there's much else you can do to this game anyway. It's running pretty smooth now.

Somebody is already doing a Bloodlines Source remake but judging from the stuff I fix all the time that will be very difficult because of the complicated quest and dialogue system which just isn't there in HL2. But using my patch Bloodlines MP is already possible, although I never tried it...

Naw, they just need to get the basics working. As long as I can choose my skill points and fight along someone against overwhelming odds, Im happy. That other stuff can come later. They really don't need it for multiplayer really. Can you give me a link to the project's main page? I've neither heard or seen anything about it.

Hey, I just tried your patch and Im having a problem. When my character walks out of the room she saved Lily in, she walks into the door frame on the left and gets stuck. Since I have no control over her, I had to reload and then it worked. Also Im getting problems with sudden jumps in audio files when listening to npcs speak. Sometimes their lips don't sync to what their saying sometimes. It's the worst with that guy at the beach who gives me the Lily quest. I never had this problem with the offical patch. Gimble is kinda messed up too. His tie seems to be stuck and jumping around and he gets stuck facing to the left then the right, then suddenly he's looking at me again. Wierd...

I just noticed something else. I thought it was my computer but Im starting to think its the patch. I never had this problem before, but scripted events are triggered too soon. Like when mercurio is dragging himself into his appartment. It happens when she's way down the alley in front of the door. Also the Jeanette intro starts too soon; when I'm in front of the door frame and haven't even entered it yet. Also when Im talking to her, people walking around look like their ice skating and the dancers look like low budget animation. You know, no actual movement, just jumping from one pose to another. This patch is causing me a lot of problems. If it gets much worse I'm afraid I may have to uninstall it. :(

Even more problems! After doing the vampire tango with Jeanette, I tried to leave but the elevator button wouldn't work! There was no use icon at the bottom of the screen. Then Beckett didn't morph out of wolf form when I first met him. :eek: Also when I robbed the guy waiting for a tow truck all I got was $20... wtf? :mad:

You could do that with the current unofficial patch in MP e.g. at the Hollywood cemetery.
This patch is causing me a lot of problems. If it gets much worse I'm afraid I may have to uninstall it. :(
All these problems are known random bugs which I don't get on my system. So maybe it is indeed better to reinstall. They are not usually caused by the patch unless something went wrong while patching...

Judaeus Apella, why would having Charm effect Obfuscate?
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

First of all, thanks to Wesp5 for your continuing efforts with the patches. It's highly appreciated. :)

But sadly I also got the pedestrian-issue, they are not moving at all. Deleting the sm_hub-files you mentioned didn't help, neither did starting a new game, they're still frozen. :(

Aglaja, oddly enough I had to delete both those files twice, before I could get it working again, so you might try one more time.
I might have loaded another level also, like a Downtown Save, then deleted the two SM hub files and started a new game.
Might be worth a try if your really interested in a game or wait till 4.3 as sounds like Wesp has it fixed. :)

That could be the reason for the deletion not working at first. Bloodlines includes the whole current level into the saved game.

Thanks for the idea, but I don't have a Downtwon-savegame yet (still playing the early Santa Monica missions). It is actually my sixth replay (God, I just love this game), but I don't keep my earlier savegames.

P.S. I just checked the issue and the pedestrians were frozen for me too. I will try to get the patch updated, but for anyone already experiencing this just remove the two files sm_hub_1* in the maps/graphs folder as mentioned above and ignore the later AI-node message on loading the map..
I'm having this same issue also since the 4.2 patch. I played the entire Santa Monica level and on the streets the pedistrians just stand there. The only one who moves on the street is the old hobo carrying the sign by the Bail Bonds shop if I approach him. Inside the Asylum nightclub, they are walking around.

When I finished the quests here and went to Downtown, everyone was walking again.

Does deleting those two files wipe out any progress I've made so far?
