Are you talking about Nauselom? I am playing again for the first time in probably a year or so, so I don't remember anything aside from what it says in the walkthrough. That being said I will get to him tonight and can let you know how things went for me.

Have you gotten the Rod of Divinity yet?

When you pound on the guy for a while, he disappears (and then regenerates) He drops a stone at that point. Pick up the stone and place it at the point of the triangle. Another section of the room opens. Pound on the guy again and get another stone, place this in the new point and continue until the room is shaped as a star. When you place the last stone, the barrier in the middle goes away and you can grab the Rod of Divinity. Whack the guy with the Rod of Divinity, he'll stop regenerating after that. Don't forget to pick up the amulet when he dies. The exit is a portal in the center that activates when the guy is dead.

The easiest way to beat him is to grab the hardest hitting thing you have, block his attacks, dodge his summoned minions, and pound on him when you can. A few summons of your own can help take the minions' focus off you. Magic doesn't do much to the guy, but if you need to clear out some minions it can be useful (particularly the summoned shade).

Just got him again this morning and I was going to say pretty much what 1Bob said. I imagine it would be a little more difficult if you are playing a magic-focused class. For my melee-class character, aside from keeping from taking too much damage from his nasty spells the fight wasn't too difficult.

Figured him out

I just got done playing him for the first time. I had been pounding on him for the longest time and nothing was happening. I couldn't get the rod of divinity. I then figured out that I hadn't put the last "stone" on the last statue to open up the rod of divinity. Then it was a piece of cake with the rod.

Magic works well too, he'll throw alot of spells at you but if you throw them right back he's a piece of cake. You have to wack him at least 1 time with the rod to stop him from reganing health though....
