Lock picking on xbox HELP!!!

Post by okinhim »

I have been sitting here trying to pick a lock for 45 minutes. I hit up on the left stick and it pushes the pin up but how do you get it to actually open. when I hit the auto attempt it knocks the pin up and then opens. What am i missing. I have tried hitting other buttons/triggers and all i can do it knock the pin up....

Knock it up with left joystick and when it's at the very top of it's travel then I think you hit A to get it to stick, but if you're too fast or too slow on the button your lockpick will break and you have to start over.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

Thanks

I hit "A" a couple time and it constantly broke the pick. It must be a matter of timing then. I appreciate the answer!!!!

You have to test the weight of each metal bar. When it gets to the top and falls back down, the speed at which it falls will change. There is a pattern. For example,

a hard lock has 4 bars.

you tap the first bar a few times, and each time it will go up and then descend either quickly, moderately, or slowly. you have to figure out when its going to descent slowly (spending more time at the top of its travel before actually coming back down.) This is the point at which you lock it into place at the top by pushing "A." Move on to the next bar and figure out it's pattern.

each bar is going to have its own pattern, its up to you to figure it out. once you get used to it though you can pick a Hard Lock in as little as maybe 5 or 6 seconds without even ****ing up.

skeleton key

The best thing to do is to unlock the skeleton key, you can get this from one of the shrines but i am not sure which.

Depends on your security skill and what the lock difficulty is. If you are low on security and trying to pick a hard lock it's likely you will constantly fail.

As BluePaintCult said you have to get the timing right. you lockpick will break if you aren't timing it right and again it could depend on the difficulty of the lock.

Spoiler
Hes right you can get a skeleton key from the Nocturnal Shrine. It is actually one lock pick that never breaks, so you can keep pressing auto attempt until the lock opens. The Nocturnal shrine is located west from the words "County Leyawiin" on the map. Its great for thieves :)
