I've read through many posts on dueling ranger/clerics but I still have a few questions.
1. Why can't I pick a ranger kit? I mean, you can do kensai/mage, or berserker/cleric, why not a stalker/cleric?
2. What are the important ability scores, and what do I need to have where to be able to duel?
Please, no arguing for multiclass, I've made up my mind already, and I already know when to duel.
Thanks.

1. ToB prevents certain kits from dual-classing, i seem to recall only the Beastmaster can. There are mods that revert this.
2. I just tested this, took me several tries. To dual-class, you need 15 STR, DEX and CON plus 17 WIS.

You can dual a Stalker to a Cleric if you create your character in a fresh installation of Shadows of Amn (no patches, no Throne of Bhaal). The option to do that was removed in one of the later patches or in TOB, I don't remember which. I can't tell you why. I played a Stalker dualled to a Cleric in one of my first few games, and I was very surprised when I couldn't create a new character like that when I played TOB.
By the way, a Ranger's primary stats are Strength, Dexterity, and Wisdom, so all three of them need to be at least 15 in order to dual-class. (A Ranger's Constitution can't be any lower than 14, which is not directly related to dual-classing requirements.) Since a Cleric's primary stat is Wisdom, your character must have at least 17 Wisdom to dual to a Cleric.

That's the one combination i didn't try. Weird that the game says "this ability is important to the ranger" about CON, very confusing.

Well, the constitution score is important to a ranger because he is an outdoorman, a survivor.
With an unpatched SoA, is it possible to dual class an archer?

Yes. I just dualled an Archer to a Cleric in version 2.0.23035. The good news is that even a 7th Level Archer dualled to a Cleric has access to all of the Druid spells (including those higher than 3rd Level). The bad news is that an Archer cannot put more than two proficiency points in Sling. Aside from a couple of Called Shots, an ordinary Ranger (metallic armor, two proficiency points in every weapon type) or a Stalker (backstabbing skill and extra stealth) would have the advantage over an Archer.Crenshinibon wrote:With an unpatched SoA, is it possible to dual class an archer?

Hmm, i can't find the mod that reverted this restriction, anyone remember which one it was?
Anyway i tested this and if you dual-class at level 12 with a normal ranger and use ShadowKeeper to give him the Stalker kit you end up getting the 3 Arcane spells as well: pic
Hmm, do i take Haste, Animate Dead or Summon Insects?

Dual NOT duel! You're getting a second class, not fighting somebody! (sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine)Vhailin wrote:I've read through many posts on dueling ranger/clerics but I still have a few questions.

A friend from GameSpy, Boo, told me that it was possible to edit the class files through Near Infinity and all you need to do is change the flag on a class. So, from what he said, you could have a thief/thief dual class, but in any case, it could be used to re-enable the stalker/cleric as well as the archer/cleric combinations.
