Bard/RDD

Post by haydox »

As the last time i played a bard i loved it (sadly my pc broke and i lost my save) ive decided to make another!

I was thinking either Rock Gnome or Half Elf for class and i was going to go 10 Bard and 10 RDD (as RDD gets some sweet bonuses!).

In terms of combat i was going to be mainly a caster and basically ignore physical attributes, instead relying on diplomacy etc. (RDDs strength bonus will be quite nice though).

Any suggestions on what Ability Scores i should focus on and which feats and skills are a must (bearing in mind i want to be a support/caster)? Also, which would be better for this hybrid, gnome or half-elf?

Thanks

Update: As good as RDD is, now ive made my half elf bard, as i want to be caster/support i was thinking of scrapping the half bard half rdd idea and maybe getting a few more in bard for the last few songs, and maybe 5 in cleric (earth and healing domains) for some more healing power.

5 levels in Cleric might not be good enough. If you really want to experice the raw healing power of a cleric, then I would recommend one with a level 17 caster level, at least. This is especially true if you are playing MotB.

I was only meaning to go cleric to add a bit more support capability to my bard, not to be totally healing. Is there another class that it would be better to combine a bard with?

I haven't played a bard extensively, so I wont be able to give you the best advice. Though I once fooled around with a elf bard/arcane archer. Proved to be quite deadly with the bow and he also had a silver tongue. ;)

I was thinking about upgrading my skill with a bow as a prefer using that to melee weapons. Ill check out AAs reqs.

Edit: Oh c**p, just realised that i picked human as race so cant be arcane archer! Might improve my bow skills anyway but use a crossbow instead.

You know, there was a build in nwn that I'm pretty sure would work out well here as well.

Those RDD archers (given that you can buy bows with a high mighty bonus on them) do a lot of physical damage.
