Attacking without meaning to

Post by Amergin »

I keep going into combat mode without meaning to. I've got out of the cab and started shooting, knifed Fat Larry when buying new armour, and killed the cab driver  . In each case I've had recent saves to go back to, but what on earth is going on?

The only thing I've been able to find that seems relevant says that "if you experience random attack, bind the alternative attack key away from Enter". I did that after the Fat Larry incident, but it obviously hasn't fixed things. Any ideas? I'm using only the 1.2 patch, if that's relevant.

Check your key binding for attack and conversation and see if they are the same key and/or close enough that you might be accidentally hitting attack unintentionally.

If you're clicking the dialog options (left mouse click = attack) you might want to use the numbers on your key board to choose your dialog. If you have binded weapons/powers to these numbers, you might want to consider rebinding them. Just check your settings to make sure interacting when talking does not have keys that is anywhere near the attack keys. Putting them in hard to reach places often help.

Otherwise, I do not quite see any other way to fix this problem of yours.

When I was playing last the problem didn't actually show up, so blowed if I know what's going on.
Thanks for the suggestion, it gives me something to try if I have any more trouble. I've got the alternative key for attack set to p, so I can't be hitting that instead of the e for use/talk to. I don't click the dialogue options, but I do use the regular number keys, so I'll try using the number pad ones instead.
