Problem with Arindale

Post by MoCus »

I got a v1.5 of the game (CE) and i started out a character (this isnt the first time im playing... i just felt like doing it again after a while)

well i did every possible quest inside of fargrove city and i was given the keys to exit towards arindale... everything went nice and smooth except the gatekeeper aint letting me in... whining about some writ singed by the elven something something...

i dont believe i missed something and i followed though every step of both the walkthrough and the walkthrough summary and there isnt anything there about that writ... =\

i also always read in-game disscussions so it doesnt feel like i missed something

is there a way to by-pass this problem? a console command? a big punch to someone's nose?

Did you have the map that comes with the game (or look at the gamebanshee site map)? The walls you are at is not arrindale it is a little outpost to secure the border.

You need some sort of writ to get throguh called 'ordained favour'. Go north of the gate and follow the path to the lake. CE you get jumped by mushroom men on the way so get ready for a fight.

Then when you get to the end of the path look across the water (Lake Lohr); do searches on lake lohr to find alternate description of your problem. Swim to an island in the lake with a tower. Kill the ghost (or whatever) and climb the ladder (you will have a problem to fix if you are an urgoth...search 'jenny craig' (seriously) or look at the sticky at the top). At the top you get ordained favour. Yay!
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

The Urgoth cannot get up the ladder in the lake tower. It's a bug. You have only two options;

1. Start over with any other character.

Or

2. Go back to the intersection, west of Fargrove, and head north bearing left through narrow passage to Talendor. Might as well swim the huge lake to the north side of the large island where the source of moonstones is. After you have one of those, swim to the southwest side of the lake, then south into Arindale.

The Elvin fortress was merely a shortcut and a couple of side quests.

Theres also some ways to get ordained favour as an urgoth by opening multiplayer game as a smaller race climbing the ladder then continuing singleplayer as urgoth.

The procedure is described in another thread. Try searching 'jenny craig' (I think that was in the thread title) or 'can't fit'

actualy... i used the game editor offered here on this site... and unlike the threads which i was reffered to that needed some hex editing softwares and stuff i devised a way to do so more easily...

1) be an urgoth

2) get all the way to the stupid tower

3) save... doesnt matter where or uhm... well probably best to save when you are at the lowest level of the tower

4) save another copy of the game on a diffrent slot... lets call this the UBERSAVE for future refference

5) go to game editor and edit one of the savegames

*) Note: it appears that editing screws up your EXP due to some wierd bug (correct to version 1.56a) to not get screwed copy whatever is written Experience (in the Stats tab) and paste it at the Advance thingy... now this will *NOT* and i repeat will *NOT* change how much advancement exp you have left to distribute...

6) go to map tab

*) Note2: the map will show you where you are... which is a nice thing exept IT DOESNT WORK!!! it showes places like 3-4 centimeters on the map away from where you really are (north eastern to the point to be precise) so dont get fooled by it...

7) in the Predefined Locations thingy choose: Altar of Peace (top of lake Lohr)

*) Note3: if you read note2 and didnt understand what was i trying to say... (i get that sometimes) you'd now see an example... while the altar of peace is selected at the selection thingy the map shows you are north of fargoth at the point where you started the game... stupid bugs...

8) save and stuff

9) play the game... you should be next to the altar.. touch it wait for the spirit to dissappear

*) Note4: at this point... you can jump down to the water and by so skipping all the the next steps... jumping to the water may hurt alittle... you may still live if you land on earth because well... you are an urgothy chunk of flesh and muscle but i think you'd prefer to jump into the water but than again if you skip those steps you wouldnt need to use the UBERSAVE which is just a shame cuz i worked so hard typing step 4 and it'll all go to waste
oh and you will most probably need rank 4 in acrobatics to jump backwards in order to land on the wall... or you can try jumping on the altar and than run-jump on the wall so if you are extremly bad at jumping due to an extreme lack of coordination than this is your lucky day! just read on!

10) save...

11) open 2 instances of the savegame editor in the first load the current savegame and in the second load the UBERSAVE

12) dont forget to do the exp thingy again ^_^

13) under the map tab copy the four statistics (X, Y, Z, Facing) from the UBERSAVE into the current one and save

14) walla! -do the chicken dance

15) play the game and enjoy your super-strong-urgoth

this may sound long... but it'll only take like 2 mins if you are familiar with the game editor and uhm 2.5 mins if you arnt cuz i explain so good...
