Kotor 2 PC Mods

Post by tristan215 »

Kotor 1 and 2 for my PC since i heard it's better then the X-Box versions, but i also have a few questions about it...

1. What exactly is a mod ? and how do i use them ? and are there any risk's in downloading them ?

2. Is there unlimited leveling up in Kotor 1 for the PC version ? i know for X-box your character can only go up to level 21.

3. Is there a way to use Mods for the X-Box versions ?

Appreciate it if anybody can answer these questions for me, thanks.

1a. A mod (short for Modification I believe) is a collection of data files that modify your game, adding either story content, items or NPCs or a misture of all or some of those.

1b. Each mod should come with instruction on how to install and impliment them and an outline of what the mod does, if a mod comes without a readme tht does that, it's not trustworthy anyway so bin it.

1c. There are risks in downloading anything from the web, viruses attach to anything executable, and that includes most mods. But just visiting any site can trigger unwanted spyware, so wear belt and braces. In other words make sure your virus protection, spyware protection, and if you have it, firewall are up to date.

2. No, the level limits are the same for both games on both platforms, but, it is possible to get round them with the PC version if you're prepared to use an editor.

3. Not as far as I know, but I don't own one (wouldn't want one if you payed me) so (shock, horror) I could be wrong, it happens once a century or so. :D

He means a savegame editor, which you can download from free from different sites. A google search will probably yield one... You can use it to alter your saves, by editing your character's stats/experience.

As for mods, there are some available, but most only add clothing and weapons which tend to be munchkin items (ie. they severely overpower your character). There is a mod coming out for KOTOR 2 that will restore a lot of cut content from the game, but it is still in beta testing.

KotOR 1 has a level cap of 20, while the second game doesn't have a level cap (I think).
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

No, sadly there are no mods for the Xbox version and like Nightmare said, there is no level cap for KOTOR II. Although I am willing to bet that someone made a mod for KOTOR I that takes away the level cap.

There is actually a level cap for K2, but it's level 50, so no realistic chance of ever reaching it unless you severely abuse glitches. I've never found a level cap remover for K1, but it can be worked around b using the gamesave editor (KOTOR and TSL Save Game Editor (English Language Only), Knights of the Old Republic 2 Downloads, Knights of the Old Republic 2 Save Game Editor) be careful though, and make sure you have alternative saves to fall back on for when you screw up.
