Erm, why do you think a PC consular would confront the rancors alone anyway? Besides Force Kill is so much more fun to use against them.

Armisael, I didn't exaggerate about killing them with 2 force waves. I was at like lvl 18 Scoundrel/Consular on the Leviathan. It was right before you fight Saul Karath there are 2 doors and one has a sith master with two apprentices while the other has 8 sith. I'm pretty sure it did, but it could've had 6. I had barely gotten in from being out in space so I didn't have any weapons equipped and I just walked into the room froze them all with stasis field and used two force waves. That was my first time as consular. When I tried it as a guardian it took 3 force waves because the 2nd force wave didn't have all of them in range.

Dudes ....

I was just talking about a tank-build mindless no macro-manage meat masher. I wasnt suggesting which jedi has the biggest balls in a PvP hypothetical deathmatch. I wasnt talking about which would kill 25 rancors 0.005 seconds faster than the other build.

I was just trying to advertise the large, beautifully attired (power armour is just sexy), no nonsense, no macro manage buffs, meat mashing machine.

Id say the consule beats the guardian for sheer power and for cool factor, but this thread was about a specific build : Soldier/Guardian. The thug with a lightsaber!

Sorry, about getting into that. Seems like threads always get off subject after it gets off the first 3 pages.

Guardian v. Consular

Okay. In this hypothetical Guardian v. Consular, I think that the consular would win, so long as he/she has a relatively quick brain and good stats. First off, why does the guardian get to know ahead of time that the fight is coming up? If he/she knows to put force immunity, it kind of gives him/her an anvantage. (from here on out, I'm going to refer to the said jedi as a he).

I must say that, if given a fair duel, a consular would win against a guardian almost any day. First off, it doesn't matter how many VP you have if force kill gets rid of 1/6 every time. Second, if you put Force Immunity on, then that takes one round, and then I'll just breach it and take 1/2 your life away just like that. Last, the most important point yet. YOU CAN'T ATTACK WHILE CHOKING TO DEATH!!!!!!!! While you sit there and die from Kill, I can cast it again and again. You will autodie with 3 castings. Sorry for my little outburst.

How do I get off the notification for this thread??

Seriously ... its a thread about the Soldier/Guardian build..... no others. Its not Ultimate PvP Build, or Ultimate in your dreams build. Its just a soldier/guardian that looks sexy and kicked butt with zero intelligence or preperation needed.

I understood the Soldier/Guardian in armour vs the Soldier/Guardian in a dress argument and how it related to my post ................

ok 1) you would have to worry abot vit points. and if the power is active i dont think breach stops it, if i remeber correctly it stops it from being used. and who says the guardian doesnt have breach? all i have to do is breach u every time and u have to use up FP and i can do it over and over becuase its a lose cast cost.and i would have the sith regen implant so u might take 1/6 of my life away but as long as i can stop you i can heal and hurt u.

In responce to the first page i played through the first time and had a hard time staying light side. i all ways see to drift to the dark side. so i am nautraly evil to a point.

Telephone

We got a little off subject here, feller's. I'm a big fan of this build my self. the "Tank" referance made me laugh. I always wanted to go one step higher and run the game in a loincloth like Ahhnold the Barbarian. All I need is a broad sword like Malak's penile compensater (It's not a real word). It should also come with it's own dialog text like "You are puuuuny, I must break you!" and "That lightsaber is made for children, girlie man!" All the will and mid affect immunity in the galaxy is no match for some good trash talking!
And there is no macro managing with a tank. just point and let go! Very fun!

I know this is bumping an ancient (well, in internet terms) thread here, but does an armored Soldier/Guardian LS with max STR really work? I know I'm new to this game, but I'd imagine enemy Jedi would just use any power requiring a WILL save and stop him in his tracks.

BTW, I really enjoyed reading this, which is also a reason I'm bumping here.

Hilariously, I am still on the notification list for this. Yay for "ancient" software that still works perfectly. Good job, GameBanshee programmers.

P.S.: I was a nasty person when I posted in this thread...

But on to your question (though I haven't played KotOR in a while)

Pretty much any "build" will work in this game. It's not too difficult, and certainly a really buffed-up Guardian can do serious damage. You'll definitely want to get Force Immunity at some point to stop annoying enemy Jedi. That, and use the other members of your party; after all, even if you're out of commission the rest of your party can still be attacking.

Okay, what started as an amusing thread actually has me thinking about playing an armored Scout/Guardian (8/12)

I can get everything I want in a party built with this configuration:

The PC can get all the important skills while adventuring, with only a 10 INT:

Computer Use
Repair
Persuasion
... this leaves me two slots for Jedi NPCs, which means I'll be using some awesome force powers in the game anyway.

I can get all the feats I want for a combat god:

Flurry 1,2,3
Implants 1,2,3
Toughness 1,2,3
Conditioning 1,2,3
Two Weapon Fighting 1,2,3

I would max STR all the way

14 start
+5 level-ups
+5 Dominator Gauntlets
+3 LS Guardian
+3 Heavy Exoskeleton
+2 CNS Strength Enhancer

32 STR is downright nasty (although since the Adrenaline Stimulator is so much better I might go with that one instead... but that involves lowering initial DEX and increasing other stats anyway).

I too am still playing this game. I've played it on and off for the past 4 years but always find myself coming back to it. If you've finished playing through the game with your first character, I've got some suggestions on making an even more unstoppable soldier/ guardian:

1. Max strength out when creating a new character. Than put the rest of your points between dex and con as you see fit.

2. Instead of donning armour, try robes. They allow for the use of force powers, and most notably Master Speed. Not only does master speed give you 2 extra attacks (so if you normally hit once when attacking, after casting this you would hit 3 times) but it makes your character run TWICE AS FAST. I can not stress how useful this is on larger planets such as Dantooine where running is necessary. This makes for a grand total of 4 attacks per round, WHILE reaching enemies twice as fast. Not to mention the damage behind every hit from your insane strength. You'll find yourself destroying everyone and everything in your path in mere seconds, even Malak end game on hard. What's not to like?

3. Lastly if you have already played the game through with a male once or twice I would definetly suggest playing through as a woman. It makes for a totally different play experience. I can not tell you how much joy it brings me to shut down Carth Onasi again and again :p

So if you find any of this advice interesting or useful, or have a different approach that you feel works better, let me know. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who hasn't given up on this game :)
