Worth It?

Post by bushwhacker2k »

I suppose it's kinda dumb asking on it's forum but-

Is this game worth it? I rented the game and almost the second I turned it on, I returned it to blockbuster... Did I judge too quickly? Should I try it again?

You did judge it too quickly. To really get a feel for the gameplay, two to three hours minimum is necessary.

No my friend you are in tune with your instincts, and I applaud you for that.
If I had listened to mine, I would have done the same. I would say you didnt return it fast enough, but 1 second is all you need to take in all this pos has to offer. You missed nothing but wasted time.
I on the other hand, finished it (not something Im too proud to mention) not because I liked it, but because I wasnt smart enough to rent it, and I'll be damned if I wasnt going to at least see it to the end. And a really bad ending it was.

This is a great game

I have over 15 hours in game already, and I like it, its easier than Oblivion, yet still a wide choice of weapons, armors, spells etc, and it look pretty good too.

Ok, the plot could have been a tad better, but its ok.

I especially like the fact you don't have to be 14 years old with an instant trigger finger to play this game and you don't have to emmorize 5 or 6 key combinations, its very playable.

Give it four hours and then decide, it is definitely a slow starter.

My first time playing this game was on the first of this month, that's when I got this game as an aniversairy gift.

I absolutely hated it cuz the controls sucked and I died by groms cuz i didn't know how to fight back, couldn't jump as high, didn't know how to access my inventory and thought the world was so small........

I didn't give the game a chance, it wasn't till I redid a new character cuz I didn't know how to save but then I learned, did i start liking it. I discovered at about lvl 3 i could kick a black bear's arse withe that fire spell you get xD and the backup button ((i think it's B, my finger would know better than my memory xD))

And after discovering a few tricks i like this game alot~~~~~~

I can multiple cast ((I had like 8 or 9 summoned creatures at one time))
I can put things on my horse (( can choose between yellow horse, brown horse, white horse, black horse, skeleton horse, red lizard, white lizard, brown lizard))
I can teleport from wherever I am and back to it with summoning stones
I can steal good armor and make uber gear from people's locked closets and chests
I can see and fight dragons <3
I can have my own pet dragon ((Well it's really a wveryn but so what :P ))
And if i ever get xbox live i can play with people on there :D
I can enter a locked house by not unlocking the lock through summoning
I can have my own army that is very hard to kill
And I can have a horse i don't have to spend millions of gold only to have it die by one swing of an orc xD ((with the exception of skelton horses, for some reason they die :/ even though they're already dead))

The only thing I can't do in this game is walk/jump on the surface of water,
Swim in it in really heavy gear
and Swim in water on a Horse
and Jump very high.
<3This is the song that doesn't end and it goes on and on my friends some people started singing it not knowing what it was and they'll continue singing it forever just because<3

Yeah this game is pretty fun. I had a blast maneuvering and using traps and spells and things to get my level up to about 13. Then I was so ripped and found a full set of half plate that not much could hurt me and I could venture into the areas where one might encounter silver backs.

Well there is a lot of ways to play the game, but I will give my hints. Keep in mind that I've only just recently broken out of the easy zone of the game.

Don't stack weapons/shields/quivers on top of each other unless you think its a real prize find (ie it won't be outdated soon...or you really need to survive). Stacking on top makes the weapon better but if you DON'T do it you will be more powerful. Why? you make tons more money selling things individually and you can use that money to buy cool stuff.

Be careful what you spend your money on. You get a bonus to complete armor sets so save them in a chest and when you get 3 pieces of a set you want then think about buying.

Its so much cheaper to have found something than buy it. Use money to buy things you can't get otherwise. My best investment early was a war spear. That thing rules against animals and bandits. Buy more traps too so you can lay about 5-6 but don't break the bank and a level 2 hold trap is pretty friggin effective if you have some combat ability.

Air is a good choice to start with magically. Healing and bless save potions and convert mana into health..if your not a mage you walk around with truckloads of mana. Bless is great until you have built enough armor to carry loot with your armor of choice.

Bow is kind of fun but by the time you complete a decent set of armor and get a war spear or better you can kill most things easier without it. I did make a guy that found a decent bow at level 3 and I put pts in shooting and I had lots of fun trashing the young groms with arrows.

Edit:

I am liking the game but is getting somewhat unplayable.... I am 20 level and it is really insane how much loot you have to carry. I have bought 5 bless stacker spells and can raise my strength to 82 from a base 41, but I still have to teleport back to town about every other battle. I suppose you don't have to do that but then you run out of money...

The first 20 levels were fun. I definitely carried loot especially before my bless spells but I didn't seem to mind as much because I was excited to try new things out. Now it is pretty much a slugfest. Blah!

So it was definitely worth the price of admission but I am not liking the latter half of the game. Well I've played 90 percent of my waking hours in the past 3 days. So thats a decent game. But you know I don't want to play the quest to drag out 25 pieces of armor 50 axes and 50 shields to town in multiple trips. Also the cyclops is kind of lame as all 1 shot enemies are...favors twitchy arcade game style.
