OOC: In post #78 I mistook "bar" for the entire establishment and not just the bar area.

IC: Looking around the establishment, taking a quick head count and looking for anyone that may be paying a little too much attention to the few of us gathered at the bar area.

OOC- No worries, just remember that the bar makes up for about 15% or so of space in the entire nightclub. This is definitely not your normal bar and it's definitely not a tavern of any kind.

@Gu'Dan-

You don't really notice anyone noticing you. Most people are dancing to the music or getting thrashed at a table.

"Jeronis, Shile and Nordak, I get the feeling that the faceless man, however kind he was may not seem to be all he is, or dare I say may be more than he is. I'm going to take a look a around this place, the people here seem completely smashed and who would question an unarmed robed dwarf wandering around aimlessley! Gu'dan gets a bit of a chuckle out of his own statement. He stands up from the bar, and makes way for the stairs to the upper level, when the noise of the crowd begins to dim from distance he begins to move silently. (More Silently=1d20+1=13) Moving silently upstairs, if I come across any doors, I attempt to listen in. (Listen=1d20+2=17) [If I need more than one roll let me know.]

The wheels of Jeronis mind are turning with the events of this evening. Sundown seems to be a stranger character than just an ordinary rogue. Already something had seemed off, but when he sent Shile away it seemed to have been with a voice beyond the warp and weave of the ordinary. Kitch was missing and had become a zombie or something? 'Whats going on here?' he thought. 'Can I trust sundown? Whats of such interest in the hatch that such unearthly beings as Shile's shadow masters are after?'

"Well Shile, after the events of this evening I will turn a blind eye if you want to open the hatch while he is with his company?" Turning to the half-minotaur, "Nordak, you wouldn't rat us out would you? We'll just take a peak."

If they agree:

he says, "lets go. Keep an eye out." Perring at the trap door he examines the grains of the wood and the surrounding area sensing for the telltale signs of a trap including magical forcelines.

Search - roll 3 + 7 = 10

He keeps his ear open to anyone approaching:

Listen - roll 6 + 9 = 15

HP: 1+7 = 8 of 11.

Shile feeling better makes a wide smile at everyone "Thank you tavern dwellers"

The Shade slightly covers her hears with the sound the dwarf is making, it seems that like the books tell Dwarfs are not very stealthy. Turning to the Halfling, she nods eagerly.

"I would love to peer into Sundowns secrets, I will not tell a soul of what I see, that much I can promise"

Shile gracefully stands up and heads toward the kitchen but stops, "What of you horned one? are you curious of the content in the hidden basement?"

Nordak seems to need a few moments to digest the sudden disappearing of the faceless man, but he quickly recovers while whispering so only the persons close to him could hear,

This is the most strangest guy I ever seen. He certainly loves to keep us on our toes.

Nordak nods towards Jeronis and Shile,

I will guard the door and try to buy time for you guys in case someone shows up. Let's see what secrets does Sundown hides below.

Ok, so since Annette is still out for the time being, I'm gonna put the game on a temporary pause until he gets herself situated (otherwise there's not much i can really do with the next set of events).

Currently, the timelines of each group matches up about right, and I'll post a major update for everyone once she's back.

Just to be sure though-

Sinead is heading into Sundown's room.
Gu'Dan and Allexa are near the stairwell watching out for what happens with Annette.
Jeronis and Shile are heading into the hatch.
Nordak is standing watch just outside the hatch.

Is this correct?

If so, I'll be posting the update the instant Annette gets back.

I think I'm going to give Annette until Sunday before moving the game on without her.

Here's what's gonna happen in the event that Annette is temporarily removed from the game.

I'm going to keep the slot closed for new gamers for a period of 30 days, and Annette's character will become an NPC for continuity purposes. Sinead will still be in the game, but I will be controlling her rather loosely. She will NOT however be participating in the combat or party based endeavors.

If, during the 30 day waiting period, she comes back and is able to regularly game again, then I'll update her character on what has happened and catch her up to the party.

If not however, I'll have to remove her character permanently from the game.

I do not like doing this to Annette but out of fairness to five other players, we need to move on in the game.

It is now midnight Sunday, and so the game must go on.

Annette's character will still be exactly the same as before with only the fact that I'll be controlling her and she won't be joining you guys in the party. The slot remains closed for the time being, but if by August 10th she doesn't come back I may open it up to someone else.

Anyway-

@Jeronis and Shile

The hatch opens up without any issues and leads you into a large, rather dank wine cellar. Most of the bottles are dusty but this is sundown's private collection and you can see he has some elegant taste.

Jeronis- Innate Spot success.

You notice one of the bottles of wine happens to be slightly different. All the bottles are glass and black, this one happens to be ceramic as opposed to glass and is simply painted with a glossy black finish.

@Nordak-

One of the waitresses managed to make her way to the kitchen area only to notice no cook or staff of any kind except for you.

"The hell is going on back here?" She asks inquisitively. "You quit your job or are you just so incompetent that you don't know where the fricking door is that you need to be a door guard to?"

@Gu'Dan and Allexa-

You head up the stairs to notice Sundown closing his door just a half second after Sinead walks inside.

You hear a couple of locks latch onto the door and hear some mutterings between Sinead and Sundown that you can't quite make out.

Nordak looked down slightly bored at the waitress,

The club is full, the clients are thirsty and you come asking me what door I guard? Who the hell are you anyway?! You forgot what your job is and suddenly you decided that supervisor would fit you better? Now, before you get me really angry step aside and get back to what you are supposed to do. I am supposed to guard and boss asked me that no one gets inside here except him. If you have a problem with it go ask Mr. Sundown. I am sure that would be more than happy to explain where your place is.

Nordak chuckled after the last comment - between the large smile and his raised eyebrow you could guess what would Sundown have to say to her or more likely do.

"All I hear is some muttering... guess theres not much going on here I'm going to head back down and check on the others." Gu'dan makes his way back down the stairs headed back towards the bar not caring this time if he makes much noise doing so as apparantley the walls are pretty thick.

OOC: Do the basic type of halflings get keen senses? Mine has the +1 saving throws? I'd rather have keen senses than the +1 saves though both if possible! I have no extra feat at 1st level. I don't have the basic sourcebooks, just going from the web version.

The halfling points, "this one is different". He thinks about the situation wondering how much time they will have and whether the boss would put a trap on this particular bottle, much more likely than on a hatch he trafficked to.

"Lemme check it out", he says, "see if you notice anything else out of the ordinary"..

He inspects the bottle to see if there are any hidden mechanisms. [edit having to do with picking it up]

Search - roll d20 (17) + 7 = 24

If not then he picks it up and examines it:

For obvious things such as writing and appearance.. If applicable:

Knowledge (smuggling) - roll d20 (8) + 6 = 14
Appraise - roll d20 (1) + 2 = 3

"Did your shadow masters say what we were looking for?", he asks with arched brow, nervously.

OOC: theres nothing else aparent? This is a wine cellar, nothing else obvious to examine?

The web version IS the basic sourcebook.

Everything in the players handbook and everything in the SRD are an identical match down to the letter. The only thing not available in the SRD is custom copyrighted WoTC content like deities and monsters (such as mindflayers).

Whatever a halfling gets in the SRD will be the same stats as the Players handbook.

You find nothing strange about the bottle without picking it up.
If not then he picks it up and examines it:
The instant you do pick it up however, you feel it to be immensely heavy (approximately 20 pounds) for a bottle, and it was sitting in that spot to hold a button in on the wine rack.

As the button becomes loose, the wine rack splits in half revealing a classic arch doorway.

On this doorway is a rather complex and complicated mechanical lock. On the door is a rather crudely inscribed etching that says "Last number." And on mechanical lock there's an engraving-

2, 3, 5, 7, 11.

Finally, there's a small beveled set of numbers that you notice could be pressed in if desired. The numbers range from 0 to 9 as well as a final 10th button that is a simple circle.
OOC: theres nothing else aparent? This is a wine cellar, nothing else obvious to examine?
Other than the above mentioned, there's always the wine to examine.

OOC: My intelligence is 14 I am not sure about this puzzle..

d20 = 1 :mad: + 2 = 3

edit: while Shile is thinking I am going to search for a trap..

d20 = 18 + 5 = 23

Shile steps around the basement, the darkness doesn't really poses a problem for her sight.

Once the new archway becomes apparent Shile is about to start clapping her hands, but remembers that she has to remain quiet.

"Well, that solution seems awfully cheesy, so cheesy in fact that it might actually work... but, we are talking about a man who is favoured by Nero, so it might not be that simple."

Intelligence check D20+2= 17 (My intelligence is also 14 Glad :p )

Regardless of her words, Shile attempts the combination her hafling friend mentions, just for the sake of seeing something happen.

Allexa glares after the dwarf, who had left just as quickly as he had arrived. "Not like I needed your help anyway, blighted dwarf." She cursed, kneeling in front of the lock and pulling out her masterwork thieves tools so she could begin working on the lock. Trying her best to stay quiet while undoing the lock, she strains her ears as well, trying to hear what they were talking about within.

@Shile-

As you try the combination Jeronis suggested, you deduce a little more how the machine works.

When pressing the buttons in they click down preventing you from pressing them again. Furthermore, when you pressed the 5 down after the button, the 2 came back up, indicating you can only have a maximum of 2 down at once.

Finally, you deduce with your intelligence roll that you cannot use the number 11 when hitting the circle button. Since pushing a button in locks it down, you can't hit the number 1 button twice.

@Allexa-

Either you were very lucky with your move silently or Sundown just doesn't care that you're sneaking into his room, either way you do succeed in picking the lock just barely.

As you creak open the door, you see Sundown staring directly at you as he and Sinead are on the bed. What you expected to see was an act of fornication, but instead you witness something a little more horrifying.

Sundowns mouth is clasped over Sineads left shoulder area and blood is dripping down her backside.

@Gu'Dan

The only one you find is Nordak. Jeronis and Shile are nowhere to be seen. You pass a rather pissed off waitress on your way down though.

"let me try." pushes 23571circle...

OOC: in case wondering why I thought this I figured the 11 was shorthand for 1 circle or you could think of it as a tens place..

If it doesn't work he quickly pushes 2357circle1
