Don't you just love those extreme sports.

Thankfully I never had, and after reading about the ear incident never will take up mountainbiking. I would feel way too uncomfortable having a body part sewn back on. Sounds too disturbing just saying it.

Yep, every weekend he would come back with new scars...

I can just imagine him when he's really old. Sitting on an old couch in front of a fireplace telling his children and/or grandchildren of the story behind this scar and the story behind that one.

Well Merthyr has the second highest crime rate in Wales (to my knowledge) only just behind Swansea. The actual place is quite attractive, but the population are less so. It was a former mining town, and when mining became less of an industry it hit hard. They were also home to one of the worse land slides in Welsh history It is a little over industrialised compared to some of the other smaller towns.

Sounds like my ex who was into mountainbiking... by which I mean seeing who can ride down the steepest slope without killing themselves He was very proud of the fact that once he nearly took his ear off, and had to go to hospital to have it sewn back on...

One of my best friends used to be a downhill MTB:er at a high level, he raced in competetions and stuff. Now, I know few people who has had so many injuries as him - countless breaking of ribs and collarbones, constant friction injuries from sliding on the ground after a fall, several head and neck injuries not to mention permant damaged knees. I didn't get 1/10 as many injuries from all the years I did alpine climbing. My friend actually gave up downhill because of all the injuries, now he's doing "city" stuff instead, ie jumping down flights of stairs, jumping on and off walls etc, so now he usually only gets minor injuries

I thought it was just jumping down stairs. Never thought of bringing a bike into the picture.

He must be really popular guy in town when he's doing his "city" stuff.

I used to do that when i was younger, now i would just hit my head all the time

Well i think that "Who can click their knuckle joints the loudest" should be a sport as well so i don't know if i am an accurate judge

The only sport I participate in is shopping.

Well, I am taking up golf again, even though the last time I played, my clubs and golf bag tried to kill me several times. This time, however, for those of you who know anything 'bout golf, I'm only gonna be using 3 clubs. My 5 wood, Sand Wedge, and Putter. I'll have more of an advantage this time if they try to kill me again.

Well I can't think of a better place than this thread, to tell us how your clubs attempted to take your life several times. I've had a golf buggy slide down a hill not after me though , From now on I listen to all the warnings, and carry my own clubs.

Golf buggy? Is that a golf cart?

I had a bad experience with a golf car once. I was in 7th grade. Dad and I were playing at one of the golf courses in Kerrville, Texas. I was driving the golf cart and ran into a tree.

I've actually had various misadventures with golf clubs/bags/balls. Once, as I was walking through the rough towards my ball, someone on the next hole hit a bad shot and the golf ball missed my head by a few inches. Last time I played, my golf bag tripped and tackled me. Bad swings resulted in me hitting myself in the head several times with the golf clubs. Another time, I was walking from the parking lot to the first tee and I tripped and fell into the baby pool near the club house, my golf clubs falling in on top of me. Almost makes me wonder why I'm gonna take up golf again.

I've seen a friend almost get hit by a golf ball. I blame those snobby members, who don't want the course to be over run with teenagers. Needless to say, we go there often now.

Our course is situated next to a national park, so its not unusual to come face to face with an angry male kangaroo. If something should try to take my life it would be one of them. They are a savage bunch

LoL, well, the golf course I played at in Kerrville had two age groups. In the morning, all the old men played. In the afternoon(usually right after school) all the teenagers would come out and play. A lot of the old men would be sitting outside the clubhouse at picknick tables where they had a great view of the woman's tee on the first hole.
