Might be a good idea. I'm starting to type up my first post right now. I've got alcohol in my system and I'm ready to go!

lol!!! :D It is a good thing you asked. My apologies, in putting up this thread I think both BS and I forgot to mention anything about approximate levels :o
nonsense. I merely have little to no practical understanding of the concept of leveling :p For what it's worth though, my character is probably in his mid to upper 20's by now, was rasied in a very hostile environment, learned melee fighting at a very early age, escaped, went through a very dark time in which he became basically an outlaw due to his pursuit of vengence before making his way into the original DF story. He's pretty much got his act together by now though.

Classwise, I'd say you'd mostly classify him as a wizard slayer with ranger tendencies. Like I said, I don't know if it's a valid class of not, but given the fact that he developed a resistance to magic in general, and immunity to a very selct group of spells as a result of his past, his general dislike of mages (used to be homicidal intolerance of them) and the resulting time when he spent alone as a hunted man in the wilds of Icewind Dale, I figure he would have developed skills similar to what those two classes have.

However, that's not to say he's uber. While a kick ass melee fighter, his temper sometimes gets the best of him in combat, he snaps, and he can kind of lose a bit of self preservational urges. He also can't use a bow for spit, and his magical resistance also makes him extremely uncomfortable around spells of any nature to the extent that he relies on healing potions, will not submit himself to any types of haste/protection/healing spells unless at deaths door simply because they cause him intense discomfort, and, like anyone regardless of level I guess, he can be prone to those less than memorable moments we all have :D He also is not overly outgoing, not unfriendly, just not used to dealing a lot with other people.

Actually, nor do I. I'm horrible at technical details :D
Hmmm. There's that cover blown... :o :D
From the sound of that, I fear you are heading in the same direction as what I had planned. Unless you focus more on the melee, soaking up damage, kind of guy. Mine will be more stealthy, focussing on agility, technique, speed and stealth, rather than on strenght, endurance, etc.
Actually, that was what I had in mind. I have two characteristics in mind- toughness and adaptability. He isn't going to be a rogue, just have rogue tendencies- jerry-rigging items, sneaking around just enough. This said, it is entirely likely he will make a blunder of it as often as it goes well.

His bread and butter is going to be when he is in the thick of it, especially when he is unarmed. He's going to be a "big" race, and with the excess amount of elves & h-elves, that leaves:
(a)human or (b)something else wacky. This is great because, again, he's going to focus on adaptability and toughness.

I picture him as a (the following is in black because I'm not sure how much exposition I should do out of story- if this is too much, someone say something and I will edit it out)
former fighter who studied martial combat to an extreme, but was then confronted with a set of circumstances that didn't fit into his martial teaching (like, for example, a Hold spell). So he widened his perspective...okay, save the rest (this IS coming together)

@ Magrus,
lmao!!!! :D Beautiful! :p

btw guys, don't worry about having slightly similar races or character 'classes' just write what feels natural ;)

This isn't Noah's Ark you know, we don't have to have exactly two of everything :D

I think those horror stories must be over-rated. DW's been nothing but nice to me. Even gave me handcuff's. :p

Long isn't bad, so long as we don't end up with 4-5 posts in a row from someone I can't complain. One post is only 10000 characters, not a whole lot at all.

It's odd....
Most of the guys who end up writing with us... seem to have an interesting fetish for handcuffs, whips and other devices of torture... :D  :o

More seriously, I think intro posts, especially if they are re-introducing characters from the previous books are likely to be long, just by the nature of the beast ;)
Besides...if anybody else writes long introductions it makes me feel better :o :D

LOL Hmm and did she show you the whip as well? :D I managed to cram it all into 2 posts. My posts aren't usually this long, but I wanted to intro the character to those who weren't familiar with her

No...bad experiences with whips in the past. :o
