I just did a couple of searches... so far I found people in Oregon and Pennsylvania.

Geez, Magrus is a difficult person to find.

However, he lives in a rented place... I dont think that we can rely on anything due to his name, and the hgouse may be owned by someone, really, anywhere, while Magrus lives in NY.

Oh, you will not believe this! I know the exact location of his server, but nothing about the IP address itself.

*sigh* turns out there are greene county's everywhere (Even Ohio!) BTW I know he had an aunt in Akron.

I think if we assume Magrus lied about where he lived we can't do anything. Therefore we have to assume he didn't. That means he was in NY state (though I've been trawling through his posts and I haven't found the one where I thought he'd mentioned a county). I'm sorry but I really have to go to bed now. If he did mention a county I think it has to have been after I started posting here quite often, which was probably a couple of months ago, and before he 15th of September when I went on holiday. I will try to search some more tomorrow if I have time, but it's not an easy day for me. If no joy by the time I get back, I'll carry on with that then.

The server that he is on and an address I found from 411 and other sites are exactly the same. I can tell you the building the server is in, jut not whether Magrus is online or not.

Oh, well, I havent found anything, and failed miserably. Did a search for his IP, did a search for the addresses I got, got a bunch of random stuff... none of it was a help on seeing when he was last online.

I know we are probably way overblowing the issue, but I would rather like to know where he has gone to.

@Fiona: I just ran searches for my name and IP address and they all showed up that I was residing elsewhere then where I am. Apparently I am Australian.

Unless any of the detective work we are doing leads somewhere we will have to wait for Oscuro Sol to try phoning him...

From what i remember he told me he lived in Rochester NY. Try doing a search there. Though honestly you won't find anything. He should be between 18 to 22. So I doubt he is going to be on any data base. Only people in any form of data base in the US are the ones that pay taxes and have mortage or something.

Magrus i believe has moved places quite a bit from the impression i get. I have a bad feeling about this in two sense. DP or something happened to him. I hope neither is true and that he just lost net access.

Using the sender name attached to his Gmail, I did a search for him in Rochester NY.
There appear to be two listings under that name...

One of the doamins was based in Rochester. I tried it and got the ISP, which DW then found the site for and sent to me, and I am now trying to get through to them, but can not for some reason.

I think I will try again tommorrow... I am not really in the mood to fight with my phone, its been tempermental since we got it.

Hill, myself and several other people have spent the last 6 or 7 hours, on and off trying to fiddle with things like Mag's Gmail sender name, his IP, a few clues on his geographic location etc.

Whether or not we manage to locate Mag now or tomorrow will likely make little difference to his well being.

And, fingers crossed, won't need to. I really do hope, that in however much time, Mag is going to come back, laughing, wondering why everyone was so bothered.

I do seem to remember him having problems with wireless internet [The connection belonged to his landlord, then each tenant had it wireleslly, IIRC.] Perhaps he simply hasn't been able to get online?

I sincerely hope so Giles. But having been in the situation where I had no internet connection myself for weeks, I know one usually finds a way to get on the net one way or another even if it was for only say 5 minutes a week to check your hotmail or just have a quick look at GB.

Well the state of play is as follows:

1. We have his name.
2. We have a location.
3. Hill and DW have found mention of the name in the city - 2 mentions of the name.
4. All that is left to do is calling up the two people and hoping we get in touch with Magrus.

I personally don't know how information is stored in the US but is it possible that Magrus is not listed at all?

I am based in NYC, so I am more than willing to help with the calling or whatever else that needs to be done.

Mag was born on march 23 1983. Does that make him 22 or 23?? I think 22 but my math may be off

Rochester, NY is sounding like the way to go there. But we still can't contact his work. Even though he lived there he may have worked somewhere else. So Id say that option is ruled out

The big problem is that I don't have enough info about Mag. I know his first name, I know that he was from outside Rochester, and that is about it.

@CM, et al.- Do you have his full name? One option would be calling the Rochester city gov't. As much as I hate to call the cops with anything to do with Mag, maybe that's an option? I don't know anyone who lives out there anymore....... and driving out there to ask around seems like a little bit of an overreaction.
