Sorry for the crappy, single sentence updates but basically lots of stuff has been going on (Namely that microsoft is REALLY pissing me the hell off right now because they sent my Xbox 360 back without repairing it all because of a damn sticker that was scratched that I didn't even know about). I'll post a larger response next time, so feel free to do what you will of this or even just tell me that you need more than this.
Khannon-
I let the others lead the way for the time being, not really knowing my surroundings that well but otherwise stay on alert.

I head to the library and begin browsing through the selections of books yet again. If there's an attendee, I ask him/her if they know of the Demonweb Pits book kelnoz mentioned. If not, I simply study the "Scriptures" books from where I left off.

My heart sinks as the drow says the word mage hunter "We need to get out of here fast if they they manage to sense..." I cut my sentense un half, I still not trust the drow enough to reveal him the divine guardian "right ahem... lets go deal with the our foes, do you have a plan or want to simple charge into the fray?"

While the two discuss this Cernd-ar asks, "Could we sneak past them... what if they sound an alarm? All it takes is one horn blast and the entire army could easily reverse their plans and we'd then be getting hunted."
Khannon
The group looks at the army and notices they have taken notice of the group and are heading towards the forest.
"S**t! They'll be here in the hour!", Dorry remarks, "Quick, teleport us out of here!"
"I can no longer perform the incantation in my current form.", Melkior explains.
"Well so much use for you! Gah, why did they have to paint a target on us? Now we'll have the entire Veil on us within an hour."
"Then we must decide what to do, and quickly", Copper says resolutely.
"Fighting them is out of the question, there sheer numbers would result only in death.", Azhag reasons, "Perhaps flight over fight... well I mean retreating rather than actual flyying... but..."
"I'm hearing he sounds of beasts, neither wolf nor boar... but a cruel mix of the two...", Copper says.
"Wargs. So we can't out run them.", Azhag says disheartened.
"Perhaps we can hide." Copper suggests.
"They'd probably sic the hounds on us." Dorry says pessimistically, "Their bloodhound can sniff out any elf from any forest."
"Perhaps... But maybe not if we hide in the trees.", Copper suggests.
"Then we'd just have to hope they don't spot us or we're doomed.", Dorry says.
"There may be another possibility." Melkior says raising his finger.
"Spit it out, we don't have much time.", Dorry says.
"Perhaps I can split off from the group, lure them away by attacking them head on with my magic in a suicide attack. They'll kill me and assume the threat has been dealt with. You can use this time to hide or retreat into Merchant's Landing or go straight to Annarith."
"But aren't you afraid of death?", Azhag asks.
"They can't actually kill me, I will however be unable to join you for a week until the magical binding comes undone and my lich form regenerates. It is however a small price compared to having the entire party captured, killed or worse.", Melkior reasons.
"But proceeding onwards without your spell-casting ability, as limited as it is, when we can easily forego such a sacrifice seems unneccessary.", Copper says.
"How about a vote then.", Azhag says.
"I could never leave a man behind to sacrifice himself while I ran and hid", Copper says.
"He's not actually going to die. He's already dead. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain using the bag of bones as a decoy.", Dorry says.
"Not true, Melkior gives us a magical advantage over much of our opponets. I don't know much about inquisitors and mindflayers, but I doubt such fiends can be taken down with swords and words alone.", Azhag pitches in.
"However, I'd only be gone for 7 days, hopefully you can get some progress just investigating without my divination magics in that time.", Melkior interjects before turning to you, "What about your thoughts Khannon?"

At the same time Brauer's mind is hit by a telepathic message from brim, it's strong but fuzzy from the distance. Through the static you hear him scream "Help!... Square monster ... bad... can't reach..."

You go back and investigate the slab walls and the you discover that of all the stages of the lunar cycle the full moon is the one that has been cut out and it is there that the light from the moon beams through. Perhaps the gemstone's power requires a full moon, or is strongest in the full moon. Would the gemstone even react to regular sunlight?

There is some shouting off in the distance, Arvall and Cernd-ar can't make heads or tails of it, but Ven'atar pristine hearing picks it up clearly. It's sounds like a large bellowing voice using common. It sounds orcish with the gruffness but the articulation of the words shows a certain fluidity in them.
"The mage is probably hiding in the forest over there by the trees. Send the hounds in first, Jag'lub you and your men extinguish your torches, lay low and flank them behind to the south, Gar'snick spread the goblin along the northern front and have them wait for anyone leaving the forest that path. Everyone else follow in behind me, form ranks and comb the forest, stay away from northern edge or you'll be shot at. Clear? NOW MOVE OUT!"
The army then begins to split up into the decided groups and heads towards the forest in the east, slowly moving farther and farther away from you. A small group stays behind and begins moving back towards the Merchant's landing.[/QUOTE]

I hate the idea of letting a person sacrifice themselves, but in this...unique situation, if his revival is guaranteed, then I'd say we let Melkior do what he wishes to help.
In the meantime, I think it's best that while he's gone we keep our heads on straight and avoid ANY direct confrontation that might butcher our plans in these 7 days.
We have a week, that's plenty of time to take things slowly and get everything we need to do in perspective, no need to do anything rash. Dorry, this means you too. Keep your tongue and wits about you, don't go pissing off the locals."

It'll be updated soon, I'm still working on the update and would rather really sit down and make a decent post than push out a quicker, less thought out one just to keep things moving. Definitely updating tomorrow.
Ven' atar & Arvall
The Ven'atar tries to move along with the group and finds that the warg has fallen asleep, he kicks the beast to wake it up and the beast does so begrudgingly. The group manages to make good time moving stealthly and quietly, only Ven'atar having issues dragging his reluctant steed in behind him.
The group slowly makes it's way back to the road and is ahead of the rearguard and is almost at the empty city gates when suddenly a massive explosion occurs off in the horizon. Arvall manages to notice that the brief flash of light caused by the explosion the form of some incinerating goblins and a lone tall silhouette could be seen.
The explosion sets the Warg off into a frenzied fit, he begins charging towards Merchant's Landing at break neck speed blasting past the priest and Arvall dragging Ven'atar in behind him in a trail of kick of dust.
While Arvall can't help but laugh at the turn of events with the dragger being the dragged, he reliezes the severity of the situation and wonders if he should help and in what way. Meanwhile Ven'atar's back begins to feel raw as he gets scraped along the road his cloak dragging behind him providing only a thin curtain between the back of his head and dusty road, littered with the occasional stone. His feet caught in the saddle and with the warg's back hooves coming dangerously close to his groin he considers his next course of action quickly.
At the same time Arvall manages to spot some figures coming in from the north of the road, they seem few and they don't seem to be part of the Orcish warband... what trouble could they possibly bring with them?
Khannon
"Yeah, yeah, whatever... I don't know who died and made you king.", The halfling shrugs, "Speaking of which, we better book it to the landing before 'Diirinka the second' goes back to the grave. Again."
"Here, come with me, I know of some some of the shortcuts we can use in these flatlands that will allow us to sneak out wisely rather than squander the opportunity Melkior has given us.", Copper waves the group to follow him.
You can hear the armies moving closer, with your darkvision you can make out that it seems like they are diverging, no doubt to surround the forest. You go to leave when a hand goes on your shoulder you turn around to see Melkior holding out the red leather tome your recovered back in Helmlock Fortress. In his other hand he has a torn page.
"Take this with. Keep it hidden, keep it safe. I'll return for it later." Melkior says handing you the book. You take it and run off to catch up with Copper and the rest of the party now getting out of your sight. From behind you, you hear "Good Luck."
You move through the fields with Copper, he picks a path mostly trailed along with slightly taller grass and a few dips. You see through the shaking grass that the army is coming closer, a group of about 70 goblins or so all armed with weapons lead by a large figure is spiked armor has diverged from the rest of the army and has begun combing the grass. The rest of the group has spotted him as well and have moved even slower, azhag and Dorry even coming to a complete halt as he gets closer...
The figure peers at the grass with his beady red eyes, you duck out of the way to avoid meeting his gaze hoping that if you can't see him, he can't see you atop his steed. Suddenly a massive blast of heat and fire explodes mere feet away from the group. The explosion is deafening and the flash blinds you. You begin running blindly through the grass, unable to hear or see where you are going, as your vision returns you begin to see that the rest of the party had the same idea. You look behind you to see charred and flaming goblins either laying on the ground dead, or running around while ablaze before falling to the ground in a flaming heap.
As your hearing comes back it at first sounds like everything is under water and distant. The first words you make out clearly come from Copper, "...regrettable, but necessary."
You and the group keep running, running and running until you final become exhausted and slow down to a steady trot, you look behind you and are surprised by the amount of ground that you covered. You walk in silence towards the road. As you reach closer to the road you see a strange sight indeed.
There are 3 people travelling, they all appear as mostly cloaked silhouettes, but from what you can tell they are medium sized. There are two figures chasing after their 3rd friend who appears to have fallen off his steed and is being dragged from behind, you can't make out their faces, but from what you can tell the dragged man is tied up in the saddle.

Brauer shouts to Brim, his signal becomes furthern and more distant. You hear him say "Jelly!" before the connection is lost. You can't make direct contact with him anymore due to the distance between you, but the magical essence and spiritual tie you have with him and further developed allowing him to use your spells allows you to tell that he is still alive... and that he's running far away from the door you sent him through. Perhaps down a corridor. You figure his general direction from your position is south west.

Wincing with pain I quickly weigh up my options. From my position I can see only two real choices, kill the warg or cut myself free from the saddle. As I bounce along the road I pull myself into a position to see the girth-strap running across the warg's belly. I reason that if I can cut it I will be left behind rolling in the dirt as the warg keeps going. I pull out a small knife and begin to desperately hack at the tough leather strap

You go back to the library... 'Demonweb', where have you heard of that book before? You could have sworn you held it in your hands at one point. You return to the main library and look for the book. True to his word the book is gone. You decide to make the most of the library and pick up "Sacred scriptures II" instead.
This book, unlike the previous book in the edition appears to have been inked in purple ink, for fun you check the 3rd and 4th installments of the sacred scriptures and find them to be written in black much like the 1st.
Why is this book done differently, it can't be because of it being vastly more important since all the sacred scriptures should be important and of equal weight... you think.
That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die.
The first two lines of the book have this phrase written very precisely separate from the rest of the text. These mere two sentences are written only a single size bigger yet get an entire page to themselves. The rest of the book, in short, outlines the following
To become a priestess of the honourable spider queen all priestess must complete the initiation challenge set forth in the Demon Web pits.
All Priestess' divine empowerment is granted by "The Weave", like a spider's web the weave binds everything together. On our world the weave is an invisible force rooted in the ground and on the all holy surfaces.
Spiders have the largest and closest tie to the weave compared to any other creature, drow being second.
Most living creatures are bound to the weave indirectly, for their veins in which blood flows resembles the fibres of the intricate web of life... and death.
Seeing that drow are strongly tied to the weave and all humanoids are weaker links to the weave it is a drow's divine right to rule over the less races.
It is through the weave that drow can channel Lolth's divine energy and be given power over slain beings linked to the weave. It is acceptable to turn any kivvil (surfacer) into an undead servant however turning any fellow drow into an undead is a severe crime that is punishable by death.
Legions of undeath have been used to bolster drow troops for ages in battle, and to aid priestesses on pilgrimages. However they are seen as unsavoury to bring with any priestess in a public event.
While Drow priestess must know how to create undead they must also be aware of how to control previously created undead. Many enemies of Lolth possess their own methods of creating undead. You may possess an undead drow created by kivvil in order to defeat them, however the drow must be released from the mortal realm and sent back to the weave as soon as possible. Keeping a drow "naut-elghinyrr" under your service for too long is dishonourable and may be met with proper punishment.
The exception to the anti-necromancy against drows or "naut'shinder elghinnfaer" (forbidden necromancy), is a ritual that can be performed by the drowess priestess called "athiyk telanth". This is when a drow priestess may commune with a recently deceased member of the same clan by giving them an offering or accepting a spirit's final request from beyond the grave. A drow may only be communicated once this way and it must be within 2 weeks of their death. Drow used in this ceremony are then marked with the "mark of silence" on their foreheads and any further "athiyk telanth" rituals are strictly forbidden. Drow who use the ritual on a corpse twice, perform it on a deceased past it's date of obligation, on a non-family clan member or fail to perform the spirit's final request are cursed by Lolth. Stripped of status and are cast into Demonweb to face judgement at the hand of the spirit(s) and Lolth herself.
The rest of the book outlines the rituals and method or raising the dead in such elaborate details with circles, materials and arcane scribblings written in text that you can not read. The last 25 pages are blank. Perhaps somebody forgot to fill them in, hasn't gotten around to it, or you just can't read it.
You are just about to put the book away when you spot a small incision, precisely cut in between the back cover and the final page that binds the inner workings of the book to it's hard cover. You ginger tap out a small parchment stashed away secretly in the incision. You open the folded parchment wondering what secrets could have been hidden... but find the page to be blank. You find traces of a white chalk-like powder on the page.
Ven'atar
After a few desperate swings with your knife you manage to free yourself. The beast keeps charging off into the distance and you are abit unimpressed with the prospect of walking. You figure you might be able to chase it down if you run fast enough, but you're not quiet sure of how to get the creature back under any reasonable level of control.
On the bright-side, you are now covered in dirt and dust and look as filthy and disgusting as most surfacers. You let out a little frown at that though.
Jarrackt
You begin chasing down the goblin through the winding tunnels, the paths breaking off, splitting up, or converging together. You do it as quietly as possible to reduce the amount of echo as you chase after the goblin.
He's fast, and he knows where he's going, where as you just happen to be following him to the best of your abilities... Fortunately for you, you grew up in tunnels like these as a kid. You often would run away off in your mountain village's underground labyrinth to escape the village elders and bullys.
Dexterity Check (to chase after the goblin)
16+2+2(circumstantial)=20!
Mao-ling just tries to keep up with you as you zoom off through the tunnels on your tiger steed. You not only manage to follow the goblin on his own turf, but you navigate it so well with such efficiency, you manage gain on him and your tiger attempts to pounce on him.
Ride Check
12+2=14
Your tiger lunges forward but the goblin manages to veer off to the left. Your tiger smashes into the curve of the wall flanking the goblin's flank running on a 45 degree angle through the roughly hewn round tunnels. You waste no time drawing your rapier. You see the end of the tunnel coming up, it looks like a larger room on the other side.
"E'Bree, E'Bree!", The goblin squeals down the hall, "Marco esnoda E'Bree!"
You could try attacking the goblin on his side, or you might be able to cut him off before he gets down the tunnel. Mao-Ling could then catch up from behind... but where have you seen this set up before?
Then you recall that back in your underground home if trolls or ogres ever breached the undergound paths you'd often roll a stone in front of the cavern to block off the path then collapse the tunnels to crush the ogre's that dwelt in them... are they planning to do that? Do they even have the man power to do that? They did manage to carve out much of these tunnels so anything is possible... Should you charge through the opening before they possibly seal you to your doom?

I laugh mostly at our misfortune... ''Stinking dog... stop running!'' As I run behind the warg and the drow. I then Kneel and think of shooting, but I might hit the drow, while it is amusing I decide against it and get up once more and walk up to the drow

I slip the page somewhere on my being, and head back out. This may be a bit of a risk but I head over to Mistress Satros' tower to meet her.
If asked by guards or anyone why I'm there, "I've read a great deal about Satros and am simply curious to meet her. I know I've probably met her before, but with my memory loss, I cannot recall a thing.
If she's too busy to have an audience with me I understand, I have no important business with her."
Khannon-
If there's anyway I can cut off the horse or sort of meet up with it (like a T intersection or something, it goes horizontal, I go vertical to meet up at the perpendicular point), I run straight ahead towards it. "Be right back guys."
If I see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary while I'm there (Like they have their weapons drawn or something) I back out. But if it simply appears that someone fell off their horse and the other two are trying to catch up to stop the horse, then I aid.
Running as fast as I can, I try to catch up to the side of the horse and jump on-
1d20+10
20+10 = 30
If I succeed (and I hope a 20 does
), then a handle animal check to get it to stop-
1d20+0
17+0 = 17
If the whole situation goes smoothely and it stops, I immediately hop off the horse and help the strangled man up. "You alright, can you move at all?" I ask.
EDIT: added an attachment for the horse encounter for what I mean. If I can meet up with the horse in a point like that or somewhat similar, I attempt this foolhardy stunt.

Arvall & Ven'atar
Ven'atar gets up and thinks about how to over run such a pathetic lot when even their own beasts of burden are useless. He watches the Warg run off down the road as Arvall and Cernd-ar catch up to him.
Then from out of the bushes charges in a large stocky figure who moves at a godly speed. Ven'atar and Arvall both halt as the witness the figure take control of the beast effortlessly and trod towards them.
"You alright", the dwarf says non-chalantly. He is mostly covered in a simply pilgrim's robe, but you see underneath he has the clothes of a hard working commoner, you think you see a magnificent belt tied around his waist however. Like a giant metal plate covering his entire abdomen.

A "gut-plate", Arvall recognizes this style of belt... but knows not from when or where he learnt it. He only knows that it comes from distant lands, but not sure on that either. Chances are this pilgrim is no mere traveller to be wandering through Albion like this. The demonstration of his skills also seem to be plenty proof of this.

You take the page and return the book back to the shelf. You then decide to go out towards the main doors and head towards the dark tower to meet Mistress Satros. You are stopped by your own guards at the door way.
"We can't permit you to leave Lady Ariel.", the guard says crossing his spear along with the flanking guard creating a criss-crossed path with the spears, "Quintana's orders."
"Stand down.", says a commanding voice coming from behind. You turn around to see Koil.
"She is one of the ladies in line, for becoming the next mistress. You'd do well not to deny her so harshly.", Koil warns before looking at you, "What has set your sights to the outside world Ariel?"
You explain your desire to meet Mistress Satros. "I understand, you two used to be acquainted in the past, she was the youngest mistress after all. More around your age than any of the other mistresses."
"Perhaps we can make a small visit to her tower and return before sunrise. However, the city is dangerous, especially for someone such as yourself.", Koil explains, "I will accompany you personally to the tower... unless you think we should wait until tomorrow when we'd be less rushed."
Khannon
You think you can intercept the steed in time. You zoom past the group using your lightning speed and shout to them as you pass, "Be right back guys.". You race off at lightning speed with a charge faster than even the speed of sound for a split second.
Moments before impact you see the man being dragged pull a dagger out of his boot and cut himself free. But then you hit the boar and manage to launch yourself onto the beast with ease. The creature stumbles from your added inertia. You use this shock and awe moment to slow the creature down and return it to a trot. Finally on the steed and slowing down to access the situation you finally make out the steed you are on is not a horse... it's like a boar or perhaps a wolf...
Your heart sinks... it's a Warg. You figure you can still make this work, you can still appear to be a good Samaritan, so you did indeed just do the act out of friendliness. You turn the beast around a trot it begrudginly to it's masked master who has gotten on his feet and wiped off the dust on his clothes.
He doesn't look like an orc due to his build. But he has a Warg and his clothes seem relatively clean, only getting dirty from falling off his steed.
"You alright.", You ask, the rest of the party slowly coming up near the edges of the road hiding in the ditch. Dorry has his face buried in a single hand shaking it in his palm.
Spot check:14+2=16
You look at the figure now from the front with your darkvision. You can't make out much of the travellers due to their cloaks. The leader is wearing a very bizarre mask you do not recognize. The other figures behind him appear to be human, although one of them is rather bulky.

I'll update more in depth tomorrow, but just to let Kozeph know. The area where Brim went and is roughly located is a different-ish area from where you think the hiss came from. They both are south, but brim seems more south-west and you put him through a different hole than where you heard the sound, since you went back to the first room.

OOG: I didn't state this before but I'll state it now, just because this is something I definitely would have done. The dwarven belt artifact is under my monk outfit, hidden from plain sight.
Regardless of what my comrades are thinking at the moment, I continue to help, not out of benefit to me in playing the good samaritan but because I am the type of person to never avoid trying to save someone's life, even if that person just so happens to be my current enemy.
"Sorry about all this, I didn't know if you had things under control or not and felt I should lend you a hand," I say reaching out my hand to help him up. Despite my nature to help people, I do realize our need to remain covert.

I lightly trod towards Ven'atar with a moking smile "I dont know which smells worse you or your pet" "and I did try to help, but It was as likely to kill the dog or you"
I then leave behind my joking manners and look at the Dwarf, while pulling down my hood "Thanks... You dont look like someone affiliated with the orc's so I'll just ask, your part of that group coming from the road am I right? I will give you my name if I consider you trust worthy" then with a bit of humor in voice "Dont worry my Drow companion is as harmless as a fly" I say that while eyeing Ven'atar "But I would suggest that you get off the dog, so you dont hurt his pride"

I'm sorry about not updating yesterday. Me and a couple of my buddies tried to log onto game banshee, and I'm not too sure if there was site maintenance or what but it kept logging us out sporadically...

I'm not too sure if you all wish to continue onward down the road either to Annarith or Merchant's Landing... or whether you wish to continue introducing yourselves. Perhaps Khannon will want to get his comrades out of the ditch since their position has been compromised anyways.
Brauer and Belfore
Brauer still needs to decide which door to open and whether he's going to investigate the noise or Brim's circumstance. Both party members need to figure out how to open the doors and get the party through. Making the appropriate skill checks along the way.

Did not realize we bumped into Venatar, well this explains a LOT (Sorry, considering the general idea of being separated, I don't usually pay attention to other posts, just Whistler and Khannon).
Anyways, I'm off the creature by now, attempting to help the person up.
I signal for my friends to come over. I look at dorry, "You can wipe that look off your face. Foolhardy as it is, I am fully aware of what my actions could have resulted in.
Sorry but I don't need a reason to help someone in danger, no matter what the case. This is something you'll learn very quickly about me."
Back over to the three (which one is Arvall and which is Venatar)?
"I've no problem with drow or any species for that matter, actions are what make a person. My foster parents* have told me stories about stereotypically evil creatures, like Mind Flayers, lending their aid to the paladins of various temples.
Can't say for sure if it's true or not, but I'd like to believe that even the most tainted can be shown a different path."
By foster parents, I'm referring to my monk masters who did indeed raise me for the most part. If a bluff is still needed for that half-truth, I will include one.
