Well, as long as 'giving sense of direction' means 'providing more riddles', I won't complain anymore
Here a riddle:
Pronounced as one letter,
And written with three,
Two letters there are,
And two only in me.
I'm double, I'm single,
I'm black, blue, and gray,
I'm read from both ends,
And the same either way.
What am I?

Weird. Yesterday, I posted the answer to the "I can do all three" riddle (Answer:fire), but now my post has disappeared. I probably forgot to click 'submit reply' or something. Now no one will ever believe that I came up with that answer all by myself. How tragic.
@Chimaera: Your answer is correct. By the way: is your screen name referring to the volcano Chimaera?

lol suuuuure you did.
Wow, that's a first. People usually think my name has to do with the virus in MI2 (which I never saw) or a mispelling of the rock band Chimaira (I want to smack all the people who think that; the nerve of someone telling me my spelling is off). Or else people say I took it from Greek mythology. That one's actually probably closest: I got the name from the Star Wars: Heir to the Empire trilogy; it's the name of the flagship of the Imperial fleet, and the author probably named the ship for the Greek beast. So, no, nothing to do with the volcano.
Ravager, is it pnuemonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis?
(side note: when I was 13, my Algebra teacher [god knows why] gave us an extra credit assignment to be able to properly spell that, which is how I know it... god that was ten years ago, I feel old now)

Oh yes, that virus in Mission Impossible 2 also was named like that. I vaguely thought about that while writing my last message. I remember Ethan Hunt inmediately knowing what Chimaera is, "the famous creature from Greek mythology". I felt a little hurt at that moment, since I'm at a high school where they teach Latin and Greek (not by choice, you have to take the classes if you pick the school) with a lot of cultural info, and I had never heard of Chimaera, and then this broad smiling action agent knows what it is in an instant! But then again, it's Tom Cruise, he's Mr. Perfect.
But seriously, it seems that there is (or was) a volcano called Chimaera. I'm studying the outburst of the Mt. Vesuvius with my Latin class at the moment - mostly translating texts of Plinius Minor; anyone? - and we also came upon a volcano called Chimaera. Though it is quite possible that there is a connection between the mountain and the monster from the myth, that the mountain is a comparisment with the beast.
Anyway, let's get back to riddles.
@ Ravager: Is it dictionary?

That's my guess, too, but I felt like being a doofus. Frankly, I won't be surprised when he says you're right.
