I used to study Modern World History. We saw a few old war newsreels. They only used to speak in that accent. It just has to be heard to be believed. :p

Three-legged monkey?! They have 3-headed monkeys in the 'Monkey Island' games :p .

I should be good at these competitions against Norway. Okay, where was Norway when America was first being colonised?

You don't even know what pole? GASP, how patriotic are you? :p

Two poles held together with a clamp- supports itself because it's two poles. Just hope no-one opens the window. Hang the coat over the top. There. :D

Come on, Yeltsu. How many combinations are possible?
And what's ordinary these days? IKEA!?!

That's what I thought. Can I start an IKEA- hater's guild? :D

I presume Norway's still too warm for you, Grimar? And how's Arcanum going for you?
Thought I'd get in a lot of questions after yesterday.

Oh and to continue... SPAM ;)

Yeltsu, how am I supposed to solve your riddle without more answers? :p

Uhm, we came before you guys and didn't like what we saw, so we went back home

C'mon ravager you can do it!

What you mean, the whole Viking thing? Hah! I don't believe that. The long and noble history of Norway  :D . The Vikings got as far as Iceland.

Thanks for the encouragement, anyway.
So what about my clamping two poles together and standing them upright idea? Not very stable, but stable enough.

Where's Maggie? Shouldn't he be helping me with this? :p

Can the clamp be a base for the two wooden poles? :D

Throw me a bone here, Yeltsu. :p

I suppose Mag's gone in search of alcohol :( . No-one to test my witty repartee on then. :p

*yawn* Holding the fort, no one to talk/spam to. :(

Alright, you almost have it ravager, i'll tell you

you put the two poles together with the clamp like

so that they reach from floor to roof, in a span (?)

Nice riddle, Yeltsu.

So, you hang the coat off the clamp in the middle?

And the poles can't move because they're jammed between the floor and the ceiling?

Aww, now I have nothing to do :( . Any more puzzles, Yeltsu? :D

Oh, If I start an IKEA-hater's guild I'm going to extend it to the distaste of anything Harry Potter. Give 'em Forgotten Realms books I say. True fantasy :D .

Hmm... there's an idea. Any takers?

Think I'll go now. Thanks for the riddle Yeltsu. :D Talk to everyone tonight probably (if I'm not sick of going on the Net :p ).

Ok I've got another one for you, lemme see

aha (this one is easier)

You are going to make a candelier (sp?) that can hold 1 candle, this is going to hang on the wall. To your aid you have a box of thumbthacks

Risk of burning down the house is not included in this riddle, just so that's straightened out

EDIT: what's wrong with IKEA?? I love them, I buy my dvd shelfs there, and they have hot dogs for 5 NOK which is about 0.55 euro

Ok Yeltsu, does it have anything to do with overlapping the tops of the thumbtacks, so they support each other, like so?

Does the candle get spiked on one of the thumbtacks?

I'll require a full answer, I can't keep giving out hints ;) :p

Spammers. There's a bunch of them and yet there's none. Damn.

Is there something to "hand" the chandelier with? Or is it to be held up by a thumbtack driven into the wall?

you keep asking for hints don't you giles ;)

the only thing you have to aid you is a box of thumbthacks, and the candelier must be mounted on the wall

by giles337
So it doesn't matter HOW it's mounted?

Hi giles and Yeltsu- Master of Riddles. I'm back. :D

Can someone explain to me what these 'thumbtacks' are. I've probably seen them before, but didn't know the name.

Are they those things that are round, have a nail that connects to the wall and a little hook?

Oh and BTW, I'm going to find a riddle to stump you, Yeltsu! :D

My problem with IKEA- Scandinavain furniture names and stuff needing to be put together which never seems to work out properly :p .

Here's a riddle:

A man walks up to you and says - "everything I say to you is a lie."
Is he telling you the truth or is he lying?

Posted: Mon Aug 01, 2005 11:22 am
by Grimar
he lies?

if he told the truth, he doesnt always tell lies. and if he didnt tell the truth, he didnt lie...

by werebeargoddess
Yeah, that's kinda confusing. Because if he was telling the truth, then obviously he was lying about lying about everything. And if he was lying, then he probably wasn't telling the truth, and what he said wasn't true.
