Well, that's a bit too typical of light vs. dark. As you've seen, DF's do thingsthe convulated way :D
I still like the idea of a powerful evil being creating those black orcs, organizing and sending them off to wage war as his own private form of amusement, a game if you will. He controls the pieces, and watches the results. In a case like that, you really don't ever need to involve him directly into the story, only as the anonymous leader of the army. Once the army is wiped out and broken, his game is ruined. What happens after that is all up in the air.

It does explain how we have such intelligent, destructive and powerful orcs running rampant, fiendish type orcs bred by this Demon Lord person. Also, why the true leader isn't around, he's on another plane and subtly influencing things here instead.

As to the axe, that could be quite an interesting turn of events there. Perhaps there is a powerful demonic being IN the axe which has fallen into Erudish's hands and the being has been manipulating events for some time. A powerful, sentient artifact that is wreaking havoc on the world and getting away with it because hey, it's just another axe an orc wields. It's simply passed from person to person, tainting them and brainwashing those around the different wielder's as well. Perhaps some powerful cleric or something found it first, created the orcs and decided to lead them to war, all under the compulsion of this artifact?

then we should enevidably set out to destroy the axe, and its creator, if he or she is still around correct?

This demon could be playing a game with a deva, almost like the Oracle vs the Architect in the Matrix.

As for the axe, earlier in the thread we discussed how it could a medium that transfers the souls it swallows to a different phylactery (location) but still retains traits of those it's eaten. Remember - the true owner/creator of the weapon is unknown because Erudish took it from a dwarf he killed. Now, since the true nature of the artifact hasn't actually been revealed or talked about, we could always change the whole backstory behind it. DW also suggested that the true leader of the legion is searching for the weapon, but doesn't know that one of his generals owns it. The weapon is of Dwarven descent though (because of the runes). The actual discussion about the axe is buried in this thread somewhere though if you wanted to see what was previously said about it.

We could always rip off LotR and make the axe the one ring and make the demon lord like Sauron :D

Well, we do have three short males in the story. :p Although Fas has been alone with his cat for an extremely long and awkward period.

Aww, but Fas is a self-admitted animal lover. I'm sure he wouldn't do anything untoward, or molest the poor 'kitty' :D

Ha, I say we take obligatory liberties with his character if he doesn't come back soon. Just for some extra special posts of course. ;)
