Im starting to figure some of it out like somehow you have a target score and you roll a die and add your modifiers and if it meets or exceeds that target the action succeeds or smth.

Confusing, huh? Basically when you want to attack an enemy or something, there's a target number to reach, if you reach it or go above you suceeded, otherwise you fail.
Your choice on rolling statistics now...
